What’s Up Wednesday is a new meme from Jaime Morrow and Erin Funk that I’ve decided to participate in occasionally to let you know what I’m up to reading and writing wise. There are four quick categories to navigate.
What I’m ReadingHonestly, not much. I have been majorly slacking in the reading, writing, and otherwise departments lately. Academic life has been trying, and with the end of term I had a lot of friends leaving for the summer as well as some visitors. But I did pick up a beautiful collection of poetry, Ocean by Sue Goyette, that I still need to review, as well as getting further into the final Delirium book, Requiem by Lauren Oliver. I really don’t want the series to end, so that may be the reason that I’m procrastinating so much while reading it. Also really sad that TV show didn’t get picked up, though maybe that’s a good thing––I already watch too much TV!
What I’m Writing
Even less than I’m reading! My wonderful CP, Q, just checked over the synopsis for LIES so I’ve got to edit that some more before sending off some queries that require it, and I have almost 3,000 of a beginning of a new draft of a novel, also in verse, but I haven’t had the energy or the motivation to get much done. I don’t feel like I’m giving up on writing, although maybe I am, just for the moment, but sometimes we need an emotional or mental break and for me this is one of those times. I may blog about it more later, but the story I’m writing is really sad and draining, and I think I need to revitalize myself a bit before I continue.
What Else I’ve Been Up ToPretty much covered this between the last two categories, but school and friends. Not a bad combination, but a tiring one. University debating also started up again for the summer, so that’ll keep me busy on Wednesday nights. Oh, and on Monday my friend taught me to play this game, Innovation, and I’m totally hooked. She has years of experience on me and beat me every time, but I’m also getting some practice online so she can beat me some more again soon.
I’ve also been getting hooked on blogs about subscription boxes, especially ones you can get in Canada, and in addition to my normal Julep boxes I decided to give The Tasting Box from Foodie Pages a try since it’s only $10.95/month and it filled up right away. I’m also on the waitlist for Top Box, though I’ve now heard some conflicting stuff, so may try out Starlooks or Beauty Box 5 instead. Either way, expect to see some posts about my subscriptions soon.
What Inspires Me Right Now
Along the lines of subscription boxes, I’ve fallen completely in love with these “empties” videos where people blog or vlog about their “empties”, or products they finished that month. My favourites so far are definitely Petite Pear Style, she was the first one I stumbled across and I enjoyed her style so much I watched most of her empties video archives too. Obviously a productive use of a Sunday! If you’re interested, you can check out April’s Empties from earlier this week. It’s too late for me to join in May, but I think I’ll also be giving these posts a try in June. I don’t plan to vlog but I think it might be fun to share some of the products I use up since I enjoy it so much when other people do.
Personally, I love that feeling of being able to toss or recycle a bottle because something I’ve had for a long time is all used up and it’s onto something new, or at least the old item isn’t cluttering up my space anymore, and I’m hoping doing these posts inspires me to finish that last inch of perfume or those last few squirts of body lotion.
And that’s what I’m up to this Wednesday. What about you?
