In addition to their flawless eyeshadows and just as stunning blushes, there is a third colour product release in the Urban Decay Summer 2015 Collection, lipgloss! The permanent collection includes 14 shades, and I have three of them, Urban Decay Bittersweet*, Brickhouse* and Quiver* Revolution High-Color Lipglosses to share.
The Urban Decay Revolution High-Color Lipglosses come in a colour-coordinated box, which makes the makeup hoarder in me want to keep the boxes even though I would never carry a lipgloss around in a box… The glosses themselves have a flattened shape (“pocket friendly”) with a gunmetal lid and base, and a clear tube that contains the gloss. There’s a hammered metal look to the tube, which is pretty cool, and there’s a soft paddle applicator that makes it easy to control applicator, even on pigmented shades.
Let’s start with what I consider the dud to be. Urban Decay Bittersweet Revolution High-Color Lipgloss is a bright purple which is semi-sheer with a shiny finish. Application was definitely uneven, and although I was able to get it to look okay by going back and forth a few times, it would definitely still be best layered over a lip liner. This shade looks so bright in the tube, and unlike the other two shades, it’s just not quite pigmented enough on the lips. It also just looks awful on me (I kinda didn’t want to share the full face photo BUT I DID SO YOU GUYS OWE ME).
Urban Decay Brickhouse Revolution High-Color Lipgloss is a dark brick red, that applies evenly and is gorgeous and pigmented. All three of the glosses are creamy when they apply but develop a slightly tacky feeling over time, which does mean that they last longer than a traditional gloss and can manage 4 to 6 hours, although they aren’t transfer proof.
Finally, there’s Urban Decay Quiver Revolution High-Color Lipgloss which is a medium rose pink, which also applied very opaquely and with an even, glossy finish. I was surprised by how much I loved this shade (although maybe not with the blue eyeshadow I paired it with!)
Urban Decay Revolution High-Color Lipglosses all have a very shiny finish, but while Brickhouse and Quiver are quite opaque, Bittersweet is more sheer. While these three shades all have a cream finish, there are also two with glitter in the collection. In addition to bright shades like the ones I’ve shared, there are a few neutrals and next on my wishlist would definitely be the shade Liar.
If you are looking for a high-colour lipgloss and don’t mind a bit of stickiness, the Urban Decay Revolution High-Color Lipglosses are definitely worth checking out! My personal favourite of the three is easily Quiver because it’s so unique and summery, but Brickhouse is also really pretty. Do you have your eye on any yet?
