I’ve shared a few different TRESemme products on Writing Whimsy, and overall I’ve been pretty impressed by the brand (my favourite is their Renewal Hair & Scalp system*) so I was interested to see how the TRESemme Keratin Smooth 7 Day Smooth Shampoo*, Conditioner* and Heat-Activated Treatment* performed.
First, I have to admit I don’t actually own a blow-dryer. So in terms of heat styling, what I usually do (and did while testing out the TRESemme Keratin Smooth 7 Day Smooth system) was let my hair air-dry and then straighten it. It’s much slower, but it also means I don’t have to bother blow-drying my hair. So yeah. Lazy win. I used these products for about a month, so I’ve had lots of time to test them out, both with normal hair and with heat treatment.
Similar to the shampoo, the TRESemme Keratin Smooth 7 Day Smooth Conditioner is okay but doesn’t blow me away. I don’t think it’s quite creamy and hydrating enough for me, and again I prefer the Renewal line especially for the conditioner.
And the magical treatment that ties it all together, the TRESemme Keratin Smooth 7 Day Smooth Heat-Activated Treatment. So this is a thin liquid that is easy to disperse from a pump and then you put loads into your hair (it recommends about 8 pumps, which is plenty even with my long hair). If I just let my hair air-dry afterwards, I can definitely feel the product in my hair although it does tame frizz. However, once I use my straightening iron the feeling almost entirely goes away and I’m left with incredibly silky hair. Although I don’t find the shampoo or conditioner that special, I really love the TRESemme Keratin Smooth 7 Day Smooth end results.
Does the TRESemme Keratin Smooth 7 Day Smooth system last 7 days? I do notice less frizz in my hair in the days following using it, but unless I’m also straightening my hair then, I still end up with other product in my hair as well to give it an extra-silky shine and definition to my curls. Personally, I like the effect the TRESemme Keratin Smooth 7 Day Smooth products give when I use them with my hair iron, but otherwise I would stick to the more affordable and hydrating TRESemme Renewal Hair & Scalp system instead.
Have you tried a keratin treatment before? I haven’t, so I don’t know how this compares, but I did like the effect!
