Squeezing in a super late post today after a busy weekend and Monday but it’s one you don’t want to miss! I was sent a few different products from tarte’s gorgeous summer collection, so you’ll be seeing those over the next couple weeks, but I’m starting things off with the tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue in Berry and Nude.If you’ve been around Writing Whimsy awhile you know how much I love tinted lip balms, they are probably my favourite piece of makeup. Comfortable to wear but with a hint of colour, the tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue formula is available in 4 different shades. Each shade has its own colour packaging, which is a cardboard tube with golden details and a gold metal bullet inside. Even though the packaging is cardboard, it doesn’t feel flimsy.
I have the tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue in Berry, which is a very sheer plum, and Nude, which is a very sheer peachy beige. You can tell the shades apart, even on the lips, but it’s definitely a subtle hint of colour.
In the above photos I’m wearing the tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue in Berry, which darkens my lips slightly with a hint of plum. In terms of formula, these lip balms have a minty scent as well as a slightly cooling sensation when applied to the lips (kind of like Blistex, but more subtle).
The ingredient list includes a “Rainforest of the Sea Complex” which is a blend of algae and marine flower extracts along with coconut oil and vitamin E which help lips look and feel great.
The tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue in Nude also darkens my lips slightly with a peachy hint. These lip balms apply with a buttery texture–they almost melt into the lips–and they are extremely comfortable to wear. They have a really glossy appearance, which give a smooth finish to the lips that’s very flattering.
The shades of the tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue I tried out lasted a couple hours, similar to a lip balm, before I needed to reapply. Of course, subtle shades like this are super easy to reapply, so as much as I love these in the summer I know I’ll get even more use when the weather is cold and my lips are chapped.
I really do love my tinted lip balms so I was really excited about the tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescues, especially after Natalie said how much she loved them, and they did not disappoint! In addition to Berry and Nude, you can pick these up in the shades Opal and Rose. If you’re looking for a sheer wash of colour and a ton of comfort, I definitely recommend checking out the tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue formula.
Do you reach for tinted balms? Would you wear the tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue in Berry or Nude?
