Summer Sun Protection Essentials 3

Not only is today a holiday Monday, but it’s also the first day of August, so I think this definitely calls for a post sharing the awesome sunscreens I’ve been loving lately. I mean, there are quite a few to share, but it’s a product you should be wearing daily year-round, but especially when spending more time outdoors. If you’re looking for a sunscreen but unsure where to start, well, you’ve definitely come to the right blog post!

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration and After Sun

If you’re looking to replace your daily moisturizer with one containing SPF try… Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Weightless.

Not only does this have a pretty swirl in the bottle, it’s actually a mix of sunscreen lotion with hydrating ribbons, so it basically just feels like applying a moisturizer. It has a tropical fragrance and is incredibly lightweight, immediately absorbing into the skin. I have the SPF15, but for higher sun protection you can also pick up SPF30 and SPF50. Not only is it water-resistant up to 80 minutes, but you’re getting 12 hours of moisture at the same time. If you don’t want your legs to feel greasy at work, but want to make sure to protect them on your walk there and back, this is the product you need.

If you’re looking for an after-sun shimmer try… Hawaiian Tropic Ultra Radiance After Sun.

This lotion has a delicious Island Mango scent I love but the best part is that it’s made with shea butter and mango fruit extract to give loads of moisture and soften your skin after a day in the sun. If you’re looking to get a post-Beach Day glow, the Ultra Radiance version also contains light-reflecting mica minerals for a subtle shimmer to the skin. I really like that it’s a subtle sheen, there’s no chunks of glitter involved.

Neutrogena UltraSheer

If you’re looking for high coverage SPF that won’t break you out try... Neutrogena UltraSheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen.

Ever since I went to Peru and the friend I was traveling with brought this sunscreen from Neutrogena I have been obsessed. It’s incredibly lightweight and leaves behind a basically matte finish. It’s also available in high SPF options, I have the 60, which is really what I want on my face. I’ve also had no issues with breaking out, even when I wear it every day, so yeah, I’m a huge fan!

Bioderma Photoderm

If you’re looking for an easy to apply non-greasy sunscreen try… Bioderma Photoderm Spray.

I first tried this sunscreen as a part of my Bioderma Summer Essentials last year and I really loved it all last summer so I was super happy to recieve a new bottle this year. This spray sunscreen isn’t an aerosol, which I think it is perfect for applying at the beginning of the day (rather than reapplication later) because while it takes a little longer to rub in, it also insures you don’t miss any patches. The lightweight consistency is totally non-greasy and I’ve even used it on my face without breaking out.

If you’re looking for a lightweight and refreshing after-sun lotion try… Bioderma Photoderm Refreshing After-Sun Milk.

This is a very wet, runny lotion that’s great for cooling down after a hot day with a lot of sun. It’s got a subtle fragrance to it and is suitable for sensitive skin.

Live Clean Mineral Sunscreen Lotion

If you’re looking for a natural mineral sunscreen for yourself or your baby try… Live Clean (baby) and Sport Mineral Sunscreen Lotion.

These brand new sunscreens from Live Clean are perfect for the ingredient-concious, since they are free of SLS/Sulfates, petroleum, parabens, silicones, pthalates and phosphates, they are plant-derived, vegetarian and hypoallergenic. Both the kid-friendly and active versions are SPF 45 and contain no synthetic chemical sunscreen, dye, or fragrance. As a result, they are definitely a bit harder to get rid of the white cast from, with a thicker formula. I really love Live Clean products and ingredients, so I’m excited to see they’ve expanded into sunscreen as well.

Dermalogica Protection 50 Sport

If you’re looking for a heavy duty sunscreen that works on both face and body try… Dermalogica Protection 50 Sport.

This sunscreen has high SPF but a lightweight formula that is non-greasy and non-sticky on the skin. This has been my go-to sunscreen for running during the summer time since it absorbs in quickly and is water-resistant up to 40 minutes, so it last through my sweat! It’s also got no artificial fragrances, colors, or parabens.

Coppertone Clearly Sheer

If you’re looking for sunscreen that’s quick to reapply at the beach try… Coppertone Clearly Sheer Sunscreen Spray.

I really love spray sunscreens because of how easy they are to use, and this new one from Coppertone is perfect. It’s got an incredibly lightweight, matte finish so you don’t feel greasy, and it’s even been clinically tested on acne-prone skin. There’s a very light, fresh clean scent which is perfect for coconut-haters like myself, and it’s water resistant up to 80 minutes. If you need a sunscreen to bring to the beach that’s super easy to reapply, I definitely recommend picking up this one!

If you’re looking for a great sunscreen to use under makeup try… Coppertone Clearly Sheer Face.

Even when your makeup contains SPF it’s a good idea to double up with a sunscreen and this one is perfect to use underneath! This sunscreen is incredibly lightweight and non-greasy, with the same light clean scent as the spray option. It’s also moisturizing and feels great applied. Finally, it’s water-resistant which is super important if you’re going to be sweating because sunscreen that runs into your eyes it not fun!
