When I first became aware of the fact that people filled in their brows (honestly, this was not as long ago as you might expect!) I honestly didn’t really think I needed it. After I tried it out I realized how filling in my brows a bit helps frame my eyes and open up my face. The next issue was that I have near-black hair, and most brow products seemed way too brown and warm to work. That’s why I’m always thrilled when I find one that does the job, and that’s why I love the Stila Stay All Day Precision Glide Brow Pencil in Black*.
Stila Stay All Day Precision Glide Brow Pencil in Black is a very lightweight retractable pencil that has a very narrow, precise brow pencil on one end, and a spoolie on the other. I love that you don’t have to sharpen it, and the fact that the pencil is so small makes it very easy to fill in brows with tiny “hairs” that look more natural than just a straight line. After I’m done applying, I comb through with the spoolie and that makes sure that my brows are nicely groomed and it also makes the colour blend in.
In terms of shade match, the Stila Stay All Day Precision Glide Brow Pencil in Black is perfect because it’s very dark but also cool-toned. For some reason, I find a lot of brow pencils for dark hair lean red, but this one leans dark grey instead, which is much more natural. It is also a fairly hard pencil, rather than being super creamy, which is what I prefer because it doesn’t smudge. Creamy eyeliners are fantastic, creamy brow products are a mess waiting to happen!
There’s obviously a lot of pressure on a product with the phrase “Stay All Day” in the name, but I can honestly say that it does. Even if I lightly touch my brows throughout the day, I haven’t had any issues, and the Stila Stay All Day Precision Glide Brow Pencil in Black still looks good when I get home. There seems to be an increasing number of good brow products available, but even if I like a product I often have a hard time finding a good shade match (as a quick look at my ‘brows’ archive reveals). The Stila Stay All Day Precision Glide Brow Pencil in Black is actually the first brow pencil I’ve reviewed that actually works for my brows, and the long-lasting formula makes it a total success.
