I own two Smashbox blushes (Smashbox Halo Long Wear Blush in Peachy Dream and Warm Glow if you wondered) and I adore both of them, so I was definitely interested in trying out another blush range from the brand. I moved outside the loose powder Halo range to test out Smashbox Blush Rush in Chiffon*, a compacted powder blush in a great spring shade.
One of the cool things about the Smashbox Blush Rush range is the packaging. The compact has a clear lid that lets you see the shade, but the bottom swivels out to reveal a mirror that is great for applying or touch ups. Despite the addition of a mirror, the Smashbox Blush Rush in Chiffon is not bulky or heavy, so I actually almost missed spotting it as the resulting compact is quite cute and…compact.
Smashbox Blush Rush in Chiffon is a peachy pink with golden shimmer that is slightly Nars Orgasm reminiscent, although much more subtle. I had to very heavily swatch it in the above photo. The formula is very smooth and silky, and the shimmer doesn’t show up when applied, instead it gives peachy pink glow. However, I found I really had to build it up on my NC15-20 skin. I always have to add more blush for blog photos, but even for daily wear, I had to go back for a few layers.
Unfortunately, in addition to having issues with the level of pigmentation, I also found that the Smashbox Blush Rush in Chiffon disappeared very quickly on me. I am honestly not sure I have ever had a blush disappear so fast, I tested this for about a week straight because I was so confused, but it really vanishes after a couple hours. My cheeks are pretty much normal, so I was really disappointed in the lasting power, especially when compared to the Halo Long Wear Blushes I love.
Smashbox Blush Rush in Chiffon is a very subtle blush shade that I really had to build up, so it is definitely intended for very fair skintones. I also found that it did not last at all on me. That said, if you are in the ghost family and looking for a shade for summer, this one provides a very pretty peachy-pink glow that may be worth checking out. Have you tried any of the Smashbox Blush Rush shades?
