Okay, I know a lot of you find these kinds of empties posts a bit boring what with all the shampoo and the very rare piece of makeup (my September 2015 Empties feature…a single mascara) but I’m back with another anyway! Apparently I like stashing away all my garbage in my closest, and it’s satisfying to see what I’ve finished, and also a good reminder to myself that no, I absolutely do not need more tea/makeup/bubble bath because look at how slow I finish it. With that little pre-amble out of the way, let’s get onto the empties!
I finished my second, and final, bottle of The Body Shop Rainforest Shine Shampoo, which was not at all moisturizing enough but I needed shampoo…I had half a bottle(ish) of the conditioner left and I just ended up tossing that. This line is natural, but not moisturizing enough for my hair. I also used up a mini of another natural shampoo, the Tolan Lavender Infused Shampoo*, which had a nice scent but also wasn’t moisturizing enough for my hair.
I had two bottles of the Organix Thick & Full Biotin & Collagen Conditioner* but I’ll be passing on the second one, because as much as I loved the scent, my hair doesn’t need any help with volume. I really loved the TRESemme Platinum Strength Deep Conditioning Treatment* because it’s a) not a tub and b) does a really good job moisturizing my hair and leaving it nice and shiny. If I ever need to purchase another hair mask, this is definitely one I’d pick up.
The weather has started to cool down (a little) and I’ve gone back to taking a few more baths when I can, so I finished up both the Avon Skin Skin So Soft Aroma + Therapy Stress Relief Foam Bath* and the L’Occitane Aromachologie Rebalancing Bath Salts*, both of which were a little too subtle for me. I was really happy to use up my Mary Kay Satin Smoothie Hand Scrub in Honeydew*, because as much as I loved the scent I had a really hard time with the pump. I also realized I don’t often use hand scrubs so I used this up on my body instead.
I finished up two deodorants, my standard which is the Secret Outlast Protecting Powder, as well as a little mini Secret Clear Gel Scent Expressions in Cocoa Butter Kiss*, which had a nice scent, but I don’t find the gel formula as effective as the solid. The mini Bath and Body Works Bali Mango Body Lotion has a great scent and I used it as hand lotion at work. I love mango, but I have so so much body lotion, I’m never allowed to buy anymore…
I absolutely loved the Lush Buffy Body Butter*, and one bar lasted me about a month. It smelled great, worked amazing, and it’s definitely something I would repurchase as a treat in the future. I also used up a Demeter Fragrance Cologne Spray in Vanilla Cookie Dough*, which is a sweet, vanilla scent, but not as well loved as Sugar Cookie is for me as a room spray (luckily I have another bottle of that now!)
The sole makeup item in my September 2015 Empties is a bit of a sad one–I had to toss my MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Extravagant Mascara*, which has actually been dry for awhile but I guess I was in denial. I really like the results, but find it dried out quite quickly. I do have another sample size to use up before I decide if it was a fluke or not though.
It was also time to toss my little Rainbow Honey Midori Rollerball*, which had a really nice, almost cucumber-ish scent. I actually really miss Rainbow Honey… tempted by an order now! I feel like I haven’t had any candle empties in awhile, but there are three in my September 2015 Empties because I realized summer was over and I should finish burning some nearly-done candles so I could get onto cinnamon and gingerbread scents. I hated the Chesapeake Bay Candle in Fig & Pomegranate because even though it smelled nice, it burned HORRIBLY, and was smoky and uneven, burning all up one side, and eventually I couldn’t get it to burn anymore and gave up.
I always love Bath and Body Works Candles, and both Watermelon Lemonade and Limoncello were great options. I especially loved the Watermelon Lemonade and it’s definitely one I’d pick up again if they were on sale enough!
I’m always drinking tea but it’s very rare I finish a whole 100 gram tin that’s not matcha, but I really love DAVIDsTEA Queen of Tarts, which is a hibiscus mate that’s perfect for perking me up at work.
The final products in my September 2015 Empties are all tea. I drank up one bag of DAVIDsTEA Maple Sugar*, which I love and have bought a ton more of, one bag of DAVIDsTEA Coconut Ice*, which I made into iced tea and then couldn’t finish the pitcher because it was not a flavour I enjoyed, as well as DAVIDsTEA Grand Cru Matcha, as always and DAVIDsTEA Pink Lemonade, which had been in my collection forever because I was just okay over it but it worked out pretty nicely as an iced tea.
Well, that was a long one! My recycling bags are heavy and my fingers are tired but my September 2015 Empties are done! I finished up 14 beauty products and 8 tea and candles this month. I swear, it felt like more!
Year-to-date totals? Beauty: 154 and Tea and Candles: 74.
