Sephora Sand Illusions Baked Eyeshadow Palette* is an affordable option from Sephora that retailed for only about $15 for 6 baked shadows in light tropical shades. Unfortunately, this palette seems to be out of stock online from when I received it, but you may still be able to find it in some stores if it interests you.
I’ll admit upfront I am not a huge fan of baked eyeshadows, as in general they aren’t very pigmented and work better used wet, which I find it be a hassle. That is definitely the case with the Sephora Sand Illusions Baked Eyeshadow Palette, which includes the following shades Warm Sand, Coral Reef, Coconut Shell on the top row, and Hawaiian Conch, Emerald Cove and Tidal Wave. The shades are soft but swatching them dry gives very little pigmentation for most, and a very subtle eye look when I used them. The second of the two swatches is used wet, and you can tell that especially for the darker shades, they get much more vibrant when used wet–I just don’t really wear eyeshadow that way.
Wear on the Sephora Sand Illusions Baked Eyeshadow Palette isn’t great, at least when the shadows are dry, and would definitely benefit from a primer. I really think these shadows need to be used wet, I just don’t have the patience to wear them that way.
Overall, the Sephora Sand Illusions Baked Eyeshadow Palette is a personal miss for me and hasn’t swayed me over to the baked eyeshadow side, but if you like those shadows you may have better luck with it, if you can find it.
