So I had a bit of a blogger fail, in which I wore Sally Hansen Commander in Chic* already, but never took any photos. I know, how could I? Sigh, I did the same with a really bad Halloween manicure with ghosts I was going to share anyway. Maybe this is why I need a light box instead of relying on natural lighting, even if I like the way the colours show up in it. But anyway, I swatched this again so I could share, and here it is.
Sally Hansen Commander in Chic is basically the perfect fall shade to me. It’s ugly, it’s pretty, it’s got a bit of a purple tint to it, and it’s unusual enough that I don’t have anything like it.
I will say that in these photos I’m wearing 2 coats of Sally Hansen Commander in Chic, whereas when I actually wore it I put on three, and looking at this now I can tell why. It is opaque after two, but there’s a touch of patchiness that shows up and would be best hidden with another coat.
The wear on these Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes is overall really good, I wore this camping for a weekend and it held up great. I didn’t even have a top coat on (I don’t in these photos either) and I do find Sally Hansen Commander in Chic to be shiny enough for me, although you could always make it shinier if you added on. Still, the wear was good even without.
I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before, but the brushes on these polishes are pretty big although I don’t find them hard to use they aren’t my favourite. The good thing is that you can basically cover your nail in one to two strokes. Combine that with the fact that Complete Salon includes a top and base coat built it (I’d still recommend you use one for dark colours) and Sally Hansen Commander in Chic is not only a perfect fall polish, it’s a perfect lazy polish. Given how busy I’ve been this fall, that sounds good to me.
Interestingly, I was at Dolllarama recently and found quite a few of these polishes (not this shade) there for only $2. I was trying to be good since I have so much polish, but I wish I’d grabbed them. As nice as Sally Hansen Commander in Chic is, my favourite polish from the line is still Mermaid’s Tale.
What do you think of Sally Hansen Commander in Chic? What’s your favourite shade to wear in the fall?
