Nothing like some beautiful red Dior lipsticks for the holiday season, and I have two in an exciting new formula you’ll definitely want to check out–the Rouge Dior Double Rouge Lipstick in Dressed to Kill and Metallic Matte.

The Rouge Dior Double Rouge Lipsticks come in a sleek black bullet with a silver tube and red inside the cap (I really love this touch). The CD logo is embossed on the lid, and there’s a “Dior” embosssed on the lipstick itself. But don’t forget the most exciting part: each shade features a matte outside layer and a shimmery metallic inside one. These two-for-one lipsticks are intended to create an ombre effect, matte on the outside an metallic centre.

As you can obviously tell right away from the swatches, these lipsticks actually do not give an ombre effect, but rather the two shades blend together for a cream finish with a metallic sheen. Both shades are pigmented, creamy and moisturizing to wear.

Rouge Dior Double Rouge Lipstick in Dressed to Kill is a dark raspberry with a rose gold centre, and it is a gorgeous fall lip shade.

Rouge Dior Double Rouge Lipstick in Metallic Matte is a warm red with a red metallic centre, and the resulting shade is perfect for the holiday season.

The formula of Metallic Matte is slightly more opaque than Dressed to Kill, but both shades are great examples of a metallic lip that is still wearable–and beautiful. The formula does transfer, but I can get a few hours of comfortable wear out of it.

Overall, while the Rouge Dior Double Rouge Lipsticks weren’t quite what I was expecting, they are beautiful shades in a great formula that’s really lovely for the colder weather.

Have you tried these lipsticks yet? What do you think of the metallic matte blend?
