I pretty much feel like all makeup products should have names and not just shade numbers, but apparently not everyone agrees so today I have Rimmel London Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss in #102* and #105*.
I was already a fan of the normal Kate Moss lipsticks so I was definitely interested to see how the matte ones compared. Rimmel London Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss in #102 and #105 both have a slight sheen to them, so I actually don’t think either of them is totally matte and it’s more like a satin finish. They are rich and creamy but somehow still end up making my lips feel dry after awhile, especially #102. Unlike some of my more traditional matte lipsticks, they don’t totally “dry” on the lips, meaning they will transfer. Still, it is possible to get a few hours wear out of them. They do
Rimmel London Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss in #102 was a definite fail for me. It clung to dry patches and was not flattering on my lips or colouring at all. I am starting to be more accepting of brighter shades, but this is not going to be one of them. I wish I had something positive to say about this lipstick, because it is a bright, great colour for summer and I’m sure somebody with less-dry lips and more of a love of bright pinks could pull this off but on me it is just ugh.
Rimmel London Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss in #105 was definitely less drying for me, and I actually really like this one as it belongs to my favourite family of lipsticks– the pinky-brown nudes. The shade that started this obsession for me is Revlon Pink Truffle and I have definitely worn this lipstick a few times already, including in my review of the Cargo Blush Laguna here. In fact, I actually already own a similar shade in the regular Rimmel Kate Moss line (#8). However, I do prefer that version as this one is a bit grainy.
Overall, the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss in #102 and #105 are just okay for me. I do like #105 but #102 is just not flattering on me. Both lipsticks are okay to wear, but the black tubes (non-matte) are much more comfortable on the lips and I prefer them. If there’s a shade you really like it might be worth picking up, but I’ll be reviewing two colours from the normal line soon and I highly recommend grabbing both of those instead!
What’s your favourite matte lipstick from the drugstore? Can you pull of bright pinks? I haven’t found one that looks good on me yet.
