This review is late. It’s actually really late, and the reason for that has nothing to do with the product- Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Apocaliptic*- which I really like, and has everything to do with the colour. I’m pretty scared of dark, or bright, lip colours, and in order to properly review this product, I had to first actually wear it. That took awhile.
Previous to being sent the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Apocaliptic shade, I had actually bought a Rimmel Apocalips, which I really like. But the thought of picking up this vibrant, magenta pink? Yeah, that never crossed my mind.
Once I tested it out, I could immediately see how fantastic Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Apocaliptic. Creamy and opaque in one swipe, it leaves behind a dark stain, even if you try to wipe it off immediately after taking photos of a swatch… see my above photos!
The colour of Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Apocaliptic is bright and creamy, and so it’s easy to apply even if your lips are in perfect shape. There’s a doe-foot applicator, but it slightly hollowed out so that it holds product inside it. I think that makes it really easy to apply. I also found the applicator to be pointed enough that I didn’t have much of an issue applying it, despite having to be very careful about my lip lines.
On my (very anxious) lips the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Apocaliptic lasted about 5 hours, and left behind a pretty and even stain. I did have to be careful after I first applied it to make sure I didn’t smear it or get it on my teeth, but people more used to wearing bright/dark lip colours probably have that under control. I really liked the way it felt on my lips, and it definitely wasn’t drying.
One thing I did Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Apocaliptic was that the product has a definite scent. I actually really liked the scent– which is rose– but it does smell maybe a bit old lady and if you are very sensitive to scents it might be worth checking out before purchasing.
I can’t say I’ll actually be wearing Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Apocaliptic outside of my apartment, but I absolutely adore the Apocalips formula and there are many other shades– Celestial, Nova, Galaxy– that I probably would. I definitely recommend checking out Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Apocaliptic if you are looking for a bright, magenta liquid lipstick, or any of the other shades depending on what colour you want.
Also, I love love lip products but reviewing them is so much harder than other things! Let me know if you’ve tried any of the Apocalips, and if so, what your favourite shade is?
