I adored the last two sets of Real Techniques brushes I tried (see my Real Techniques Your Base Core Collection and Real Techniques Your Eyes Starter Kit reviews) so I had been lusting over the Real Techniques Duo Fibre Collection* for awhile before it finally showed up in Canada thanks to Farley & Co.
Real Techniques Duo Fibre Collection includes three incredibly soft, duo fibre (obviously) brushes. There’s a face brush, a contour brush, and an eye brush. The duo fibre aspect means that they are great for providing a gentle wash of colour. I like using these brushes with those products that are so pigmented you worry about looking like a clown– it is much easier, and looks more natural, building up with the brushes in the Real Techniques Duo Fibre Collection.
I have had no issues with shedding with any of the brushes in the Real Techniques Duo Fibre Collection, including the Face Brush. This brush is great for a gentle application of powder all over the face, or light application of bronzer. I actually also really like using this for blush, although depending on the product/size of the pan, the Contour Brush may work better.
Probably the star of the Real Techniques Duo Fibre Collection is the Contour Brush. This brush fits perfectly in the hollow of your cheek for blending out a contour, which is something I really want to experiment more with–especially now that I have this brush! It is also great for a natural application of cream blush as it really gives an air-brushed finish to makeup.
The final brush in the Real Techniques Duo Fibre Collection is the Eye Brush. I was a little confused by this at first because it is a larger option than I generally for when it comes to eye brushes. However, after Kalyn suggested using it for applying cream highlight, I was sold. I actually find myself using it on the bridge of my nose and tops of my cheeks instead of my eyes. However, it is also great for blending out eyeshadows.
I feel like we are often seeking more and more pigmented products, but when they are too dark it can often look unnatural and be difficult to blend. In those situations, there’s nothing like the Real Techniques Duo Fibre Collection to gently apply and blend out any sharp edges. Duo fibre brushes can’t replace traditional ones in my collection because there are definitely times when I need to pack on product, but they are a great compliment to it, and this limited edition trio is an affordable and excellent option worth picking up before it disappears!
