Rainbow Honey Summer Mixtape: I Wanna Get Better, Work It Out, Elevate

Rainbow Honey Summer Mixtape 3Yesterday when I was sharing the Rainbow Honey July Mystery Bag (here), I mentioned that my surprise package from the brand also included a couple shades from their brand new collection, Rainbow Honey Summer Mixtape. I was really excited to be one of the first people to try out these polishes, and I received the shades Rainbow Honey Wanna Get Better*, Work It Out* and Elevate*, all from the Side A of the mixtape collection.

The fantastic thing about indie brands like Rainbow Honey is that you are going to get really cool inventive polishes like I Wanna Get Better, shades you definitely don’t have in your collection already. In general, I’m not a big fan of orange polishes but I think this slightly sheer, shimmery orange with all kinds of crazy glitter in it is pretty cool. Because of the crelly formula, I did have to go with three coats and a little bit of glitter fishing for some of the bigger stars and circles. There’s plenty of glitter in the bottle, it just sinks and is harder to get to. However, the end result is really cool although gritty so I added two layers of top coat as well. I took these photos after wearing it for 24 hours and you can’t even tell!

I am pretty obsessed with coral this summer, and I really love this bright, pinker version of it. The cream formula is fantastic, but there is definitely VNL with one coat and you can still sorta see it after two, so although the shade is bright and highly pigmented I’d still prefer slightly better coverage. That said, it doesn’t make a huge difference if you’re going to top it with one of Rainbow Honey’s amazing glitters, which there are plenty of in the Rainbow Honey Summer Mixtape collection, so that’s definitely what I did next!

Rainbow Honey Elevate 3 Rainbow Honey ElevateRainbow Honey Elevate 2Rainbow Honey Elevate: Time to pick up this Ibiza-meets-New-Wave blend of glitters and celebrate!

Definitely the polish I was most excited for out of these three, I can’t resist the crazy glitter concoctions that Rainbow Honey comes up with and Elevate is no exception. I applied two coats on top of Work It Out, although you can get decent coverage with one coat, I prefer the jam-packed look of two. The polish is a bit thick and holds the glitter very well, so you don’t need to fish for it. Again, nothing like this polish in my collection and I am obsessed with it, so pretty and fun for summer! I love it over the bright coral Work It Out but it would also look gorgeous over lots of other shades– I’m interested in trying it out over white.
