My favourite product from Quo are definitely their polishes, so when it came to the Quo Holiday 2015 collection I was incredibly excited to try out the Quo by Orly Perfectly Painter 12-Piece Mini Nail Lacquer Set*. I’ve actually purchased holiday sets like this from Quo before, and I’ve always been impressed by their polishes in the past (check out previous swatches here). This set comes in cute paint tin packaging and includes a great shade range I’ve swatched below.
The shades in the set don’t have names, so I’ll just refer to them by colour, starting with the brights. Orange is a neon orange with one of the better neon formulas I’ve tried. I used 3 coats for an opaque finish, and I actually think this shade might be Jawbreaker (swatched here). Pink is bright neon pink that was still a little sheer with 3 coats because of the thin formula, but still pretty good and very bright. Purple is a purple jelly polish with pink undertones that’s opaque in 3 coats but has a very squishy finish to it. Blue is a medium blue with a blue-green shimmer in it. It took 2 coats, but was still a little sheer. However, it’s really pretty and definitely a standout from the set.
Next up are 4 pastels from the Quo by Orly Perfectly Painter 12-Piece Mini Nail Lacquer Set. Nude is peachy nude creme that was a bit uneven with 3 coats. White is a white creme with a pink lean to it, and it was still a bit uneven with 3 coats the way many whites tend to be. Lilac is a pale lilac with golden shimmer, another really pretty shade from the set. It took 3 coats for an opaque finish. Finally, Pink is a salmon pink creme with a slightly gloopy formula and an uneven finish, even with 3 coats.
The final 4 shades in the Quo by Orly Perfectly Painter 12-Piece Mini Nail Lacquer Set are definitely what I would consider the winter/holiday options. Glitter is a silver and antique gold glitter with a fine shimmer as well as larger hexes. I picked up loads of glitter with a single coat, but it’s definitely still a glitter topper. Red is a bright cherry red with a thin formula that’s very glossy and squishy, but slightly sheer so I did still see visible nail line with 2 coats. Dark Purple is a dusty eggplant creme with a fantastic formula that was opaque in 2 coats–definitely another favourite from the set. The last shade is Metallic, a metallic rose gold which is really pretty in the light and has a nice, opaque formula in 2 coats.
Even though not all the shades of the Quo by Orly Perfectly Painter 12-Piece Mini Nail Lacquer Set say holiday–unless you’re going to California like I am!–I actually really like that about this set. There’s everything from glitter to neons to nudes to a classic red. This is the kind of set that gives you a perfect polish for every month of the year from Quo. Whether you’re a long time fan of Quo by Orly like I am, or haven’t tried out the brand yet, you’ll want to check out the Quo by Orly Perfectly Painter 12-Piece Mini Nail Lacquer Set this holiday season!
