Every season Quo comes out with a new collection that includes gorgeous, unique packaging and a cohesive range of products. The Quo Fall 2015 Collection is no exception, and I have a selection of the new launches to share with you for your lips, eyes, brows and face.
Of course the first thing to notice about the Quo Fall 2015 Collection is the packaging. Unfortunately, unlike past seasons it is made of cardboard so it’s slightly less durable and feels a little cheaper, although it does have a gorgeous design reminiscent of a stained glass on the outside. The collection includes products for your whole face, and I have one (or two!) of everything except the brush set. I think the colour range is great for fall, but these are definitely all products that you could use year round.
First up is the Quo Brow Wow*, a little palette that includes three shades of brow powder and a wax. This option is quite different from the usual Quo Brow Palette I’ve seen in the last year’s fall collection, as well as the Spring 2015 launches. There were only 2 shades in that palette, and even the darkest one was too light and warm for my brows, while this time the dark powder actually works quite well!
The Quo Brow Wow includes a little brush that I used to apply the darkest powder to my brows, before setting them with a bit of the wax. The wax is creamy but effective, and together the products lasted all day. I think it’s an easy way to get a natural brow look, and to adjust the shade if your hair colour changes with the seasons. I’m quite impressed by how cool-toned the blonde is, I think that’s quite rare to find at the drugstore.
I don’t even think a week can go by at Writing Whimsy without me talking about how much I love everything in pencil format, but especially lip products, so I was quite excited by the new Quo Chubby Lip Crayons. These lip crayons come in basic black packaging with a clear cap and do not require a sharpener. There are four shades for fall, and I have the Quo Chubby Lip Crayon in Innocent* and Sassy* while you can see the other two options, Flirt and Skinny Dip, over at Workaday Beauty. The Quo Chubby Lip Crayon in Innocent is a peachy pink nude that applies quite nicely although up close it does settle very slightly into fine lines. It is very creamy and comfortable to wear with a slight sheen on the lips. This would be a great shade to pair with fall smokey eyes. The Quo Lip Crayons have a yummy scent–I can’t decide if it’s vanilla or hot chocolate, but either way I love it–and no flavour.
For a bolder option, there’s the Quo Chubby Lip Crayon in Sassy, a shimmery yet somewhat matte magenta. This shade actually reminds me a lot of Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick in After Dark, although it is a strict bright pink without any of the berry tones. The formula on this shade is definitely less balmy than Innocent, but it is still pretty creamy to apply and at least for now the crayon allows precise application. Sassy is definitely outside my comfort zone, but I love how vibrant the shade is.
The Quo Face Palette in Escape* is one of two options from the Quo Fall 2015 Collection. The shades include a blush, highlight and bronzer, all very warm-toned but with a great powder formula. I’m wearing all three products in the above lip photos, and together they give me an almost fake summer glow.
While the blush in the Quo Face Palette in Escape is matte, the champagne highlight is quite shimmery, and the bronzer has a bit of shimmer as well, making it much better for a bronzed glow than for contouring. To me, this is actually a bit more of a summery face palette, but regardless the products all apply really nicely and I especially love that blush!
It wouldn’t be a new collection without eyeshadows, and I have the Quo Eyeshadow Palette in Keepin’ It Sweet*, which is the more brown, neutral of the two options available. The layout of the palette is quite cute, and reminds me a bit of Tarte, although with a mirror in the centre instead of a blush.
In addition to 12 shadows in the Quo Eyeshadow Palette in Keepin’ It Sweet, there are 4 “cream liners” a concept I don’t understand as the shades are all quite greasy and sheer. However the shadows themselves are nice, with most shades being pretty creamy and pigmented although a couple could be more pigmented.
I applied several of the shades from the Quo Eyeshadow Palette in Keepin’ It Sweet to create a natural eye look that I am wearing in the photos in this post. I did not find these shadows lasted that long and I think a primer would definitely help bright the shades and keep them looking good longer. Still, there are quite a few nice shades, and the selection and compact size of the palette make it perfect for travel. The new Quo Fall 2015 Collection is available at Shoppers Drug Mart now and includes a great range of products. I actually think all the products I tried in this collection are worth picking up if there’s something that catches your eye, and don’t forget the accompanying Quo by Orly Fall Dance Party Collection.
