I’ve tried liquids, I’ve tried powders, but until now I had never tried a cushion foundation, so I was really excited to receive the Pur Minerals Air Perfection CC Cushion Foundation in Light*. This foundation also adds in skincare CC cream benefits from ingredients like Babassu Oil which nourishes the skin.
Inside the box, there was not only the Pur Minerals Air Perfection CC Cushion Foundation in Light compact, but also a bonus refill. I’m not sure if all foundations are sold with this refill, but I love the concept. The compact is refillable so it’s easy to replace when you’ve finished up one cushion.
The Pur Minerals Air Perfection CC Cushion Foundation compact is white with a pink pearl sheen and opens up to reveal a mirror as well as soft pink sponge. You flip open a second lid to find the foundation, which helps keep it from drying out. The whole packaging is pretty cute and portable.
The concept of the Pur Minerals Air Perfection CC Cushion Foundation is pretty cool, it’s basically a sponge soaked in foundation that gives you the ability to apply a small amount, building up slowly to an air-brushed finished. I do find that using the sponge takes me longer to apply than my usual finger method, but, it gives you a lot more control over the level of coverage. There are only four shades available, so Light is not that light, and it’s yellow-based. It’s a tiny bit dark for me, I’d say about a NC20.
Applied, the Pur Minerals Air Perfection CC Cushion Foundation in Light is a buildable foundation with about medium coverage. It has a small amount of sheen but overall a very natural. In fact, what impresses me the most about the foundation is how natural it looks and how great it makes my skin look. This is the kind of product where it doesn’t look like you are wearing makeup, just like you have great skin. I still go in with concealer to any real problem areas.
The Pur Minerals Air Perfection CC Cushion Foundation in Light is very comfortable on the skin and although I don’t find it exceptionally long wearing, it would be very easy to reapply if you wanted to. I like that it’s moisturizing enough that it doesn’t cling to dry patches, but it’s also not so dewy it wears right off my oily areas either.
Overall, I’d say my first experience with cushion foundations was a success! Although I find it takes me a bit longer to apply, I really like the natural finish of the Pur Minerals Air Perfection CC Cushion Foundation in Light and I’m happy to see this Korean Beauty trend come to North America.
