After falling in love with the Pur Minerals Air Perfection CC Cushion Foundation in Light (seriously, click that link and you will too) I was pretty excited to try out another product from this cruelty-free brand, now known as Pur Cosmetics. Honestly, I wanted every shade of their latest innovation, but for now I have the Pur Cosmetics Eye Polish in Velvet* to review for you.
So, it’s pretty clear from this blog that I LOVE cream products, including eyeshadows. But the Pur Cosmetics Eye Polish is not just a cream shadow, it’s an eye primer and top coat in one with a crease-proof foil finish. Even better, each product comes with its own latex-free silicone applicator which makes applying it mess-free.
The Pur Cosmetics Eye Polish has a watery consistency and is packaged in a pot with a bit of a cushion inside that that reminds me of the Stila Got Inked Cushion Eye Liner (although not so sponge-like).
I’ve swatched the Pur Cosmetics Eye Polish in Velvet with my finger (left) and using the included applicator (right). Although it’s convenient to blend out the shade with your finger or a brush, the easiest, most opaque application is with the included “brush”. I find it does a great job picking up the product and applying an even, opaque layer.
The Pur Cosmetic Eye Polish in Velvet is a shimmery plum an almost coppery brown lean to it. It has a smooth, flawless metallic finish to it. It reminds me most of the Josie Maran Watercolor Eyeshadows, but way easier to apply because there’s no shaking involved. One thing to be careful with is that it dries VERY quickly, so make sure you start blending it out right after you apply. In terms of wear, I got a tiny bit of shimmer fallout but it looked great all day without using a separate primer.
If you have brown or hazel or green eyes in particular, you really need the Pur Cosmetics Eye Polish in Velvet. I also really wanted the shade Silk, because it’s the sort of coppery shade I wear every day, but I’m happy I ended up with Velvet because it has a gorgeous depth and really brings out the green in my eyes. Still, there are 6 shades available and now you know what 5 things to get me for my birthday.
I don’t hear a lot about the Pur Cosmetics brand in the blogosphere, but with all the amazing products they’ve been launching lately, I feel like that’s going to change. I was originally planning to repurchase my Josie Maran Watercolor Eyeshadow, but after trying out the Pur Cosmetics Eye Polish in Velvet, I’m totally sold on this formula instead.
What do you think? Have you tried anything from this brand before? Next on my wishlist from the brand is definitely the 4-in1 Pressed Mineral Powder Foundation!
