This post is probably less exciting than a new blush or lipstick, but it is full of products that are definitely more necessary during the summer months. Recently I received a package from Avon with the perfect products to prepare for summer, including the Avon Bug Guard Plus Icaridin*, the Avon Sun+ SPF 40 Sunscreen Face Lotion*, and the Avon Sun+ Kids Disappearing Potion Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30*. Oh, and that very stylish hat pictured!
Unfortunately, all that time outside during the summer means one thing, sun and bugs. Fortunately, I wasn’t able to test out the effectiveness of the Avon Bug Guard Plus Icaridin Insect Repellent Spray because we don’t seem to have any yet. However I can tell you that the smell is actually kind of nice, or at least not at all offensive, which is a surprising win for a bug spray. It also doesn’t leave behind too much of residue like some bug sprays do. As for how well it actually protects, I’ll be taking it with me to the beach this summer to find out.
I love going to the beach during the summer, and I go through a ton of sunscreen, so it is kinda fun being sent some for review. Although the Avon Sun+ SPF 40 Sunscreen Face Lotion is described as lightweight and oil-free, I still don’t really enjoy using it on my face. I find it has a difficult time absorbing in, and leaves my skin feeling greasy. I love that it’s water-resistant, and I actually find it really informative and neat that it says for how long right on the bottle. However, I wouldn’t use this before applying makeup, and unless I’m going in the water, this will be restricted to body use instead.
The final product I have to prepare for summer with Avon is actually a lot of fun, even for somebody in their mid-20s. The Avon Sun+ Kids Disappearing Potion Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 is one of those sunscreens that applies bright blue but absorbs into the skin clear, making it easy to ensure your children are protected from the sun. It’s also water-resistant, and I actually find that this sunscreen is less greasy than the one intended for the face, so I prefer it. Plus, it’s turquoise and that’s cool.
The days are getting warmer (at least, I hope yours are! Sorry Southern Hemisphere) and as I spend more time outside, I definitely want to protect myself from the bugs and the sun. For both tasks, Avon has you covered! Let me know, would you use a colour-changing sunscreen?
