With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, there are quite a few seasonal offerings out there. In addition to the Lush Valentine’s Collection I’m reviewing, there’s a new scent (and adorable gift set) from Philosophy that would make a perfect gift for a loved one, or for yourself– and luckily, I get to give one to one of you as well! It’s called Philosophy My Heart To Yours*. Like all of Philosophy’s products, there’s a philosophy behind the product (makes sense!) and this one is:
philosophy: the sweetest gifts come straight from the heart, there are many thoughtful ways to show someone how much you love them: a big hug, a helping hand, a shoulder to lean on, a letter of gratitude, a compliment and many x’s and o’s.
But enough about the inspiration, let’s talk about the scent of Philosophy My Heart To Yours. I was immediately drawn to it, but I honestly wasn’t really sure what it would smell like because it’s described as sweet citrus vanilla. I love all three of those things, and Philosophy has combined them in a way I didn’t quite expect. It’s a creamy, warm, sweet scent. Yes there’s citrus, but it’s not at all sour, Philosophy My Heart To Yours is like a sweet lemon pie with vanilla ice cream.
In addition to the Philosophy My Heart To Yours gift set I’m giving away, there are a few other products in the range: a full body lotion (pictured), a full size shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath, and a lip duo with a gloss and a scrub. The gift set includes a mini shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath (4oz.), a mini body lotion (2 oz.), and a full size lip shine (0.4 oz.) all in the same delectable scent. I love having matching products in the same scent, and this kind of kit is also great for travel.
I’ve had a chance to test out all three of the products in the Philosophy My Heart To Yours Gift Set, so I’ll give mini reviews of each, but overall I found the quality on par with other Philosophy products I’ve tried– the main distinguishing factor if the scent, which I really like.
The Philosophy My Heart To Yours Lip Shine* has really cute packaging with the message “sweet kisses are the best treat” in a squeezy tube. I actually hate squeezy tube packaging because I have a hard time figuring out how much I need, but this one is not nearly as annoying as the one I was using last because the lipgloss is pretty thick so you don’t accidentally get way too much at a time. It has the same scent as the other products, but no flavour, which is perfect for me. I’m a bit surprised by how much I love this gloss, given the format, but it manages to provide really shiny, non-sticky coverage that still stays on my lips pretty well, although I do have to reapply after an hour or two. The pink tint isn’t noticeable on the lips.
The Philosophy My Heart To Yours Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath* is a staple Philosophy product in another delicious scent. I don’t necessarily believe in multiuse products– I think this works way better as a shower gel than it does as a shampoo. When I’ve used these in the past as shampoos, over time I just didn’t feel like my heart was clean enough, so I didn’t test it again that way. They do create lots of bubbles for a bath, and as a shower gel are pretty nice. It’s not a super creamy or moisturizing product, but it’s definitely not drying either. I wish this shower gel was a bit thicker / lathered a bit more, but that can definitely be solved with a loofa. Although you can definitely notice the scent in the shower, I felt like it was pretty faint on my skin, which is good if you’re using loads of different scented products but it can also be layered with the body lotion if you want the Philosophy My Heart To Yours scent to last.
The Philosophy My Heart To Yours Body Lotion* is a great way to layer your scent and get it to last longer. It’s not a super rich cream incredibly dry skin, but it is nicely moisturizing and adsorbs well. I definitely prefer it as a body lotion over a hand cream. Although it won’t last all day, the scent is the right amount of noticeable but not overpowering on my skin. I really liked using this after I showered because I felt like it absorbed really well and left a nice scent.
So those are my thoughts on the new scent, Philosophy My Heart To Yours. Hopefully it wasn’t too long, I guess I had a lot to say / don’t really know how to give mini reviews!
