Philosophy Amazing Grace Mother’s Day Set

If you’re already thinking about Mother’s Day (I know I am) I have a review today that might interest you, the Philosophy Amazing Grace Mother’s Day Set*. Each of the products in this set is available for sale individually, and Philosophy regularly does sets like this so that you can layer a scent with a body wash, lotion and perfume. I actually reviewed the Philosophy Living Grace Fragrance Layering Set* in March.

Philosophy Amazing Grace Mother’s Day Set comes in a gorgeous box that can easily be reused for storage and each product is secure inside. It contains Shampoo, Bath & Shower Gel, Spray Fragrance, and Whipped Body Creme, all in the popular and subtle Philosophy Amazing Grace scent.

Philosophy Amazing Grace Shampoo, Bath & Shower Gel (240 mL) is the triple use shower product Philosophy is probably best-known for. Personally, I don’t like using it as a shampoo as it doesn’t have enough moisture for me, but it works well as either a bubble bath or shower gel. The packaging on the Philosophy Amazing Grace Mother’s Day Set is all very luxe with silver trim, but the heavy plastic that is used for this product makes it difficult to squeeze, which is a bit frustrating. However I do think the light, creamy pink contents are lovely, and they lather up very well leaving only a light hint of the scent behind on your skin.

The strongest scent in the Philosophy Amazing Grace Mother’s Day Set comes of course from the Philosophy Amazing Grace Spray Fragrance (60ml), which is an extremely generous bottle that actually retails for $55 on its own from Sephora, which is only a couple dollars cheaper than this entire set. The scent is perfect for spring, a light floral scent that smells fresh, clean and has a hint of musk to it as well. Notes include bergamot, muguet blossoms, and musk. It’s not a scent that I am incredibly obsessive over, it’s lovely but it isn’t exciting to me. However, because it’s fairly inoffensive it’s hard to imagine a mother who wouldn’t like this as long as they appreciate floral scents. The main issue that I always find with Philosophy EdTs I’ve tried is lasting power, you can get a few hours out of Philosophy Amazing Grace but then you need to reapply.

Probably my favourite item in the Philosophy Amazing Grace Mother’s Day Set is the one I saved for last– Philosophy Amazing Grace Whipped Body Creme (120 mL). The gift set available on Sephora contains the Firming Body Emulsion (240 mL) instead, which is a more traditional lotion format and also very lovely. However, the whipped body creme (also sold individually) is truly decadent, it basically looks and feels like a cloud. The lotion is light and airy, with the same scent, and it absorbs easily into the skin. The scent is pretty strong and I find it manages to last a couple hours on its own, though layering the lotion with the fragrance spray definitely increases how long it lasts for.

Philosophy Amazing Grace Mother’s Day Set would make a lovely gift for a mother, or for yourself. Combining shower gel, lotion and perfume is a great way to layer your scent and get it to last even longer, although unfortunately the fragrance spray in this set is still not incredibly long lasting. The packaging on everything is gorgeous and it all looks so pretty in my bathroom (especially that little whipped body creme tub!). The scent itself is lovely, soft and clean, perfect for this time of year and for those who don’t like something too overwhelming or complicated.

If you celebrate it, what are you getting your mother for Mother’s Day?
