Recently, I shared the OPI Alice Through The Looking Glass Collection and because my nails hadn’t had enough swatching, this week I’m back with the bright and pastel shades of the OPI Retro Summer 2016 Collection. There are six new, limited edition shades in the OPI Retro Summer lineup and I’ve swatched them all for you! You can thank my cuticles for their sacrifice when you get the chance.
OPI Flip Flops & Crop Tops is a bright pink creme with an excellent formula. It’s pretty opaque in two coats, and doesn’t have that streaky finish a lot of neon-esque shades do.
OPI I’m Getting A Tan-Gerine is a yellow-toned peach creme. It’s a bit uneven on my ridged nails, but still looks pretty good with two coats. Definitely have to be a bit careful with this formula though.
OPI Sailing & Nailing is a pastel blue creme with a fairly sheer formula, although buildable. I used 2-3 coats because it was a bit uneven, but should have gone for 3 coats on all nails (you can tell I only used 2 on my ring finger!)
OPI SPF XXX is a neon coral orange that’s nearly opaque with one coat, but it does need two. However, the formula was good and the shade is just so bright and perfect for summer.
OPI Towel Me About It is a soft pastel yellow creme. While the formula was sheer and streaky with 1 coat, it worked out pretty nicely with 2, especially considering it’s a yellow and a pastel, both notoriously difficult to do well.
OPI What’s the Double Scoop? is a cool-toned pale pink creme. It has a thinner formula but pretty good coverage with 2 coats.
I’ve been experiencing some really hot weather for the past few weeks, but even if you haven’t been the OPI Retro Summer 2016 Collection will definitely get you ready for July. While the formula on some of the shade is a bit thin, the shades are very festive and I especially love the OPI SPF XXX.
