I had mixed feelings when I first saw the press releases for the OPI Nordic Collection. On one hand, PURPLES. On the other hands, browns. Luckily, I ended up with three of my favourite shades to share with you today so they are all ones I am very excited about, from OPI Nordic Collection Viking in a Vinter Vonderland*, My Dogsled is a Hybrid*, and My Voice is a Little Norse*. Also, sorry about the random hand poses in this post, I took these photos on different days and I’m not sure where my brain was but it obviously wasn’t involved in consistent hand posing.
One of my polish pet peeves are purples that are so dark they are basically not purple anymore (see recent rant about Julep Padma) and luckily OPI Nordic Collection Viking in a Vinter Vonderland is a dark juicy grape that is definitely not black, even with indoor lighting. This is a fantastic shade for fall and I went with two coats, and although it’s nice and glossy I do find it a touch uneven and much prefer it with a lovely glitter topper like My Voice is a Little Norse.
This polish doesn’t scream fall as much as Viking in a Vinter Vonderland does, but considering the OPI Nordic Collection releases in August, I have no complaints. I love these sort of sea-green, jade-like shades, and this one had a really good formula. I went with two coats and the end result was shiny and opaque. I find OPI cremes to be pretty long-lasting too and I can usually go about 3 days with only some tip wear.
Yeah, this is shade is definitely the standout of the OPI Nordic collection, and I layered it with one coat over Viking in a Vinter Vonderland, and then two coats on its own. My Voice is a Little Norse is a very pretty silver glitter with bits of holo in it. As you can tell, there’s great dispersal of glitter with one coat, but it’s not really going to be full coverage on its own. It has a good formula but definitely dries gritty, and it’s going to suck up top coat although it looks really pretty when it is made nice and glossy as well.
Overall, I am really happy with the shades I received and although there are plenty (of browns) in the OPI Nordic Collection, I definitely recommend grabbing these three!
OPI Nordic Collection will be available in both nail lacquer and GelColor formulas beginning August 6, 2014.
