Well it’s getting late (in my time zone anyway) but it looks like I’m getting a post up today after all. I don’t know what kind of exhaustion is in the air, but I finally got out of my blogging slump and I want to stay out of it. That’s pretty easy when I have lovely polishes like the OPI Ford Mustang 2014 collection* to share with you!
I wasn’t quite sure what to make of OPI Ford Mustang Queen of the Road, and when I saw reviews from Kalyn and Julie, it became clear I’m not the only one. OPI calls it black, but it’s really more of an off-black with something unusual about it, almost like how the road shimmers in the sun, but with a green undertone to it. It was a mess with one coat (though the formula is fine) and still a bit streaky after two, so I ended up going for three, which I was pretty much happy with it. It’s not my favourite colour, but there’s something strange and unusual about it, which I really appreciate given how many polishes I’ve seen again and again.
What colour is more perfect for summer than OPI Ford Mustang Girls Love Ponies? The formula is again, smooth and flawless, but it’s still not 100% opaque with two coats, however any nail line is subtle enough for me to forgive. It’s also super shiny even without a top coat. I’ve been trying a lot of hot pinks lately, and I think this might be my favourite.
Of course I saved my favourite polish for last– OPI Ford Mustang The Sky’s My Limit is the easy standout of this collection. It’s basically mermaid in nail form, a brilliant shimmery gold-blue that’s not gritty or difficult to remove (although it does leave a little shimmer behind on my skin). The formula is great and although it could be fine with two coats, I went with three to cover up any remaining VNL. OPI Ford Mustang The Sky’s My Limit reminds me of a blue version of one of my absolute favourite polishes, Quo by Orly Turquoise Moonlight (reviewed here) and I know I’ll be reaching for this many times in the future.
I always love seeing what OPI comes up with for themed collections, and although the formula on all three polishes I tried are great, the one you absolutely have to pick up is definitely OPI Ford Mustang The Sky’s My Limit! Let me know if you’ve tried any polishes from this collection, and what you think of them?
