The last OPI collection I shared was full of subtle neutrals, but the truth is, I love bright shades on my nails even if I’m a little scared of them everywhere else! I was really excited about the OPI Brights 2015 Summer Collection*, and although it took quite the effort to get to me–Fedex problems in rural areas–it finally made it and I could not be happier. There are 9 shades including 1 glitter, and although several of the shades have the same name as last year, they are actually new polishes as well.
OPI Can’t Hear Myself Pink is a bright pink-orange shimmer that has a bit of a duochrome shift to it so it changes depending on the light, as you can tell between my two photos. It is still fairly sheer with two coats, but an absolutely stunning polish that would look great over a black base as well.
OPI Down to the Core-al is a bright orange coral with a subtle golden shimmer to it. Although it’s not entirely opaque with 2 coats, it is quite bright so I find that’s not noticeable, and although it nears neon it doesn’t have the semi-matte neon finish, unlike last year–which was even brighter (click here to compare).
OPI Hotter than Pink is a bright pink with a subtle blue shimmer, and like Down to the Core-al it is fairly opaque with 2 coats and the remaining VNL is pretty hidden by how bright the shade is. In comparison to last year, it had more of a frosty matte finish, while this time it is super shiny.
OPI I Sea You Wear OPI is a bright shimmery blue with a hint of purple. Although it is still a bit sheer at three coats, this is basically what I wanted OPI Hawaii This Color’s Making Waves to be and I think it’s really pretty ocean shade. It is also a polish that would make an interesting effect as a single coat over a white or black creme.
OPI I Stop for Red is a chilli-pepper, orange-leaning red creme with a great formula. It actually looks quite squishy, and starts off looking like a jelly to me, although by the second coat it was a creme…It is pretty with two coats but the shade itself isn’t super exciting to me.
OPI Life Gave Me Lemons is a green-leaning yellow creme with a decent formula that took 3 coats for opacity. It does have a much nicer formula than last year and it’s also less green and shinier.
OPI On Pinks and Needles is a neon pink glitter with various sizes of hexes, which I applied over OPI MY Car Has Navy-Gation. I think this is a really fun addition to the OPI Brights 2015 Summer Collection and I basically applied it with one coat, although I had to dab a little for the very large hex.
OPI The Berry Thought of You is a bright, pink berry creme polish that has a great formula and is opaque in 2 coats. I’m really surprised by how shiny the shades are this year in comparison to last year, but I guess that’s because there are fewer ‘true’ neons. Shades like this don’t really fit in, but they are really pretty and wearable.
Swatching the OPI Brights 2015 Summer Collection definitely got me in a sunny mood even though the weather here is still struggling with plenty of rain. The formula on all the polishes is quite good, as I expect from OPI, although a couple were more sheer than I would have liked.
I love cheerful collections like the OPI Brights 2015 Summer Collection, and my favourite shades are OPI MY Car Has Navy-Gation, OPI On Pinks and Needles, OPI Life Gave Me Lemons and OPI I Sea You Wear OPI. What are yours?
