OOTD #1 Hyde Park

So it feels like a billion years ago, but over Christmas/New Years I took a short trip to Europe. I visited friends and adventured in Portugal, London and Belgium. The lovely lady I was flying over to visit? Her name is Laala and she also has a beauty blog, Intermittent Makeup. We are best friends and though we live far apart, we try to meet up whenever we can. I was so lucky to spend a little over a week with her! Her family has a flat in London, so we stayed there, and it’s right beside Hyde Park, which was the location for my very first fashion photos, or Outfit of the Day (OOTD).

Laala is way more on top of things than I am, so she posted her OOTD ages ago (and you can see it here) but after I had taken her photos I got inspired and because the new dress I was wearing was so cute, I handed my camera over to her. We definitely both directed our own “shoots” but she is the one who took these photos and I’m really happy with how they turned out. I’m not sure I can ever do another OOTD without such a lovely photographer and scenery!

OOTD Hyde Park 4In my OOTD Hyde Park I’m wearing a brand new dress from Primark (I wish so badly we had that store in Canada!) along with tights from there and boots I grabbed in Canada before I left on a big discount at Payless. They aren’t going to last me forever, but they are exactly my style and pretty decent quality considering the price. I am also, shockingly, not wearing any nail polish in these photos because I took it out my bag in Canada when visiting family and forgot to put it back in.

The makeup I’m wearing is pretty simple and easy because like all days, Laala and I were definitely running late. But not too late that we couldn’t apply some makeup of course!

I’m wearing my Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream in Light which came in my Sephora set (as a part of this haul), topped with Maybelline Fit Me Powder in 320 Honey Beige and my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Light which I grabbed two more of while I was in the UK.  My cheeks are a MUA Cream Blush in Blossom topped with Mac Powder Blush in Mocha.

On my eyes I’m wearing L’Oreal Infallible in Golden Mahogany which is a gorgeous cranberry shade Kalyn sent me as a part of my birthday gift (shared here) along with Benefit They’re Real Mascara. On my lips I have L’Oreal Colour Riche Lip Gloss in Soft Wine, with is a gorgeous gloss I am nearly finished and already have a backup in my collection.

My hair is naturally curly and has this fun ability to stay in braids even without elastics so although there’s a pink one on my wrist (whoops) there are none in my hair which explains why one side is a bit looser than the other. After doing these photos, I am awe of all those style bloggers who do tripod photos of themselves in public places (like Megan over at The Girl Has Sparke) but I had a lot of fun and wish it could happen more often! However this is probably the cutest thing I own so I’m pretty sure I’d run out of outfits fast.

Well that’s it for my very first, very late, Outfit of the Day! It’s also probably my last one for awhile, but I’m very excited to finally share it with you.

Have you ever taken fashion photos in public? I would love tips in case I ever get the courage to do this again (super unlikely!)
