I was recently sent on a trip to New York–makeup wise–by Revlon! Inspired by the bold reds and graphic black and white of the busy city, they sent me a selection of the new Revlon Colorstay* products to create a one brand FOTD. In this post I’ll be sharing what I think of the products and how I got my Jet Set into Fall with Revlon Colorstay – New York Knockout Look, as well as how you can win your own box of products!
Jet Set into Fall with Revlon Colorstay – New York Knockout look involves a few touches on the eyes, a bright red lip, and some nude and sparkly nails. I was sent a set of instructions, and followed them as best as I could to create a look that was outside my comfort zone but gave me a chance to try out some new products.
The Revlon Colorstay ShadowLinks in Oyster and Charcoal are individual shadows in a variety of finishes that snap together to create your own palette. Oyster is a shimmery cream shade that’s not highly pigmented, but I used it across my lid and brow bone, as well as in the inner corner to brighten up my eye. Charcoal is a dark stone grey that’s a bit patchy, but I blended it into the crease.
The main thing that makes this look different from something I would usually wear is the liner, but I added a thick line of the Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner in Black to my upper lash line, as well as to the outer 2/3rds of my lower lash line. This is a creamy, pigmented liner that comes with a built-in sharpener and smudger. I smudged it along my lower lash line, and found it did a great job lasting all day.
To finish off my Jet Set into Fall with Revlon Colorstay – New York Knockout look, I added a generous two coats of Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara in Blackest Black. I still don’t think it gave a super dramatic look to my lashes, but it did length them quite nicely, however I wasn’t super blown away by this mascara.
A surprise hit for me was the lips, which are the bright shade of Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in New York Scene. This lip product has a convenient pointed applicator, and a gel formula. I find I have to rub it into my lips a bit to let it warm up and sink in to get the most natural finish, and then I can build up the pigmentation if I want. I am actually wearing three coats in the photo below, and it left behind a stain. You could apply a thicker layer, but I like how it looks this way and it gives a great glossy, long-lasting finish.
That’s my Jet Set into Fall with Revlon Colorstay – New York Knockout look! But it wouldn’t be complete without some lovely nails, and I was sent some more of my favourite new polishes, the Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy in Checkmate and All In, as well as the Diamond Top Coat. I have reviewed these polishes on Writing Whimsy quite a few times, and I love them! Almost all the shades give a opaque, awesome finish with two coats, no base coat needed, and last three days chip-free.
For my Jet Set into Fall with Revlon Colorstay – New York Knockout, I went with the shade All In on most of my nails, because it’s a sparkly dark blue that really reminds me of the city at night. I added a nude accent of Checkmate (which I’ve reviewed here) for a graphic contrast.
Then I was all done with my One Brand FOTD: Jet Set into Fall with Revlon Colorstay – New York Knockout look!
