I actually originally took the photos for this review because I was almost done my NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Black and I loved it so much I wanted to make sure I was able to post about it before it disappeared forever. Well, that’s less of a concern since I just repurchased a new one, but at least it pushed me to write up a little post gushing about this amazing brow pencil.
The NYX Micro Brow Pencil is one of those things I’d heard really great things about basically every where on the internet, but as you can probably tell from all the brow reviews I’ve done, I have a lot of brow products already. I do not need a new brow pencil. Until I was traveling in January and happened to totally finish the brow pencil I’d taken with me. I was in the US, so I rushed to the nearest Ulta and was totally justified in purchasing the NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Black. Zero regrets.
The NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Black is a twist up pencil with a very precise point. I have the darkest of the 8 shades, Black, but despite its scary name it’s not at all like using a black eyeliner as a brow pencil–which yes, I did once because I couldn’t find any at the drugstore that looked like a match. If I’d found this NYX, all my problems would have been solved. It’s actually a very dark, cool-toned brown that’s perfect for filling in near-black brows like mine.
The NYX Micro Brow has a harder consistency, which I prefer, because you don’t want a big creamy opaque mess on your brows, but it’s not so hard that I have any discomfort when applying.
I don’t think I have bad brows to begin with, but you can tell in the comparison above what a difference the NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Black makes. Do I really have to tell you what side I used it on? The “micro” aspect lets you be very precise and mimic the pattern of hairs, and then I comb it out using the spoolie for a natural look. Also, I’m so glad this pencil has a spoolie, it’s weird but definitely not every brow pencil does!
In terms of wear, lasts all day. Looks perfect. Enough said. I do like to finish with a brow gel, just cause I have some unwieldy hair and it gives me the most polished look. Also, for a look of what it looks like with a full face of makeup, and also that gorgeous rose gold pigment I’m wearing, check out my MAC Flamingo Park post.
When you’re reading this post, I am once again traveling for a few weeks in the US. Luckily, I’ll have a brand new NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Black to take with me. But if I happen to get lured into an ULTA (I am meeting up with Julie, after all) I’m not saying won’t need to pick up another spare…
