Here’s a secret: I really love trying out new foundations, but I actually seem to have self-control when it comes to purchasing them, possibly because I have a habit of picking out bad shade matches. That said, if ones gets sent my way, I’m always excited to try it out, and that was definitely the case with the new Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation in Nude Beige (25)*, especially since I loved the last foundation I tried from the brand, the Maybelline Dream Wonder Foundation, so much.
As soon as I saw, and even swatched, the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation in Nude Beige (25) I was convinced it would be horribly too dark for me (in comparison, my Dream Wonder perfect shade is Ivory 15). However, combining the fact that this foundation is easy to blend and I have a bit of colour from the summer, I can actually kinda make it work, so I think this would be a good match for a NC20.
The Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation comes in a classic pump, and it has a thicker consistency, although not Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer thick and certainly easier to blend, just not at all watery like Maybelline Dream Wonder Foundation. My impression of this oil-free foundation is that it is best suited for people without too much dryness. In fact, I actually feel like this foundation might look a little better as the day progress and a little of my natural oil is soaked up.
In terms of coverage, the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation in Nude Beige (25) gives me medium coverage that is buildable and definitely helps with redness (although I wish you wouldn’t, check out the area around my nose for proof). However, I would still use a dab of concealer for any real problem areas/blemishes. I have heard only good things about the matching Maybelline Superstay Better Skin Concealer Corrector although I haven’t tried it myself.
I thought the lasting power of the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation was pretty good. The weather here has been insanely hot (about 30 C and super humid) so it’s kinda unfair to compare this foundation to others I have worn in less ridiculous weather, but the fact that I still had any on my face and the end of the day was a good sign! I also appreciate the addition of SPF15.
I’ve ignored the final claim of the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation in Nude Beige (25), which is that it is supposed to help improve your skin as you wear it. I haven’t been wearing this foundation long enough to notice a difference and it definitely can’t replace actual skincare, but if a brand wants to add ingredients that are supposed to be nice for your skin to their products, I’m also not going to complain.
If you are looking for a long-lasting option with good coverage definitely take a look at the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation next time you’re at the drugstore. How do you feel about combining skincare and makeup?
