I was introduced way too late to the magic of eyeshadow primers, but now that I’ve had that experience, I’m never going back. So far all my favourites have been high end, so I was really excited to test out a budget-friendly option with the Maybelline Master Prime Long-Lasting Eyeshadow Base.
I have the Maybelline Master Prime Long-Lasting Eyeshadow Base in 420 Prime & Matte, although as far as I can tell that’s the only shade available. It’s a great start but it would definitely be pretty cool if Maybelline launched a lighter and darker option as well, similar to Kat Von D, perhaps in the future.
The Maybelline Master Prime Long-Lasting Eyeshadow Base has a doefoot applicator. The primer has a creamy consistency and it’s a brown-ish nude that looked like it would totally tint the colour of my eyeshadows. Luckily, applied to the lid it blends out, helps hide any green tones/veins, and I did not find it noticeably altered the shadows I was wearing, in terms of colour.
In terms of wear, the Maybelline Master Prime Long-Lasting Eyeshadow Base is awesome! I used this on regular days with a climate-controlled office and was ready to give it a positive review before I left on my trip. Then, while traveling I used this as a base on days with 35 C heat, and my eyeshadow still looked good at the end of the day! Yeah, I’m impressed. While the rest of my makeup had basically melted off my face, my eyeshadow stayed pretty intact for most of the day. I know I owe you a before/after but I was traveling and having fun and not taking photos of my eyelids. But trust me.
I am really impressed with the Maybelline Master Prime Long-Lasting Eyeshadow Base regardless of cost, but I’m also just super happy to find such a great option at the drugstore. If you haven’t yet tried out an eyeshadow primer yet because you only hear people like me recommend Urban Decay, I definitely suggest picking this up! If you already buy eyeshadow primer but are looking for a more affordable option? I also highly recommend the Maybelline Master Prime Long-Lasting Eyeshadow Base.
Do you have a favourite eyeshadow primer? Is it from the drugstore?
