I pretty much love cream products. Cream blushes, cream eyeshadows, cream creams… I just love things you can apply easily with your fingers and one of my favourites that meet that criteria are the Maybelline Color Tattoos. I have a few classic shades that I love, but the new collections always catch my attention and I was especially excited when I learned a few matte shades would be added permanently in Canada as a part of the Leather line. I tried out one matte and one traditional shimmer from the collection which were Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather in Deep Forest* and Chocolate Suede*
All the Leather shades seem suited for fall, but Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather in Deep Forest especially meets that criteria, as it is such a dark mossy matte green that is very different from anything else I own. Unfortunately the formula falls shorts, as it is a bit greasy and applies patchy and uneven. Although you can make it work, especially if it is going to be topped with a powder shadow anyway, it is definitely not to the standard I expect and love from the Color Tattoos and was quite disappointing to me.
A much better, though more classic, choice is the Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather in Chocolate Suede, which isn’t incredibly different from other shimmery browns available but is just done really well (and it is darker and more brown than Bad to the Bronze). The formula is very creamy and pigmented and just overall perfect to apply. Some of the other matte shades look more promising than Deep Forest, so I really hope Maybelline can replicate the beauty of shades like Chocolate Suede in matte options as well. Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather in Chocolate Suede really lasts all day on my lids, and although I use the lighter ones like Pure Nude* and Barely Branded more often I am very happy to have this in my collection.
I was really excited about this collection and I definitely still want to grab the matte beige, but out of Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather in Deep Forest and Chocolate Suede I recommend skipping Deep Forest unless it’s a shade you really love, and grabbing Chocolate Suede unless you happen to have a lot of similar ones already and can manage to resist it.
Have you tried out any of the shades in the Maybelline Color Tattoo Leather collection? Let me know what you thought of them! I really want to grab Creamy Beige next.
