I don’t wear a lot of lip gloss, but considering what a cult favourite the Maybelline Baby Lips Balms are, I was really interested when I learned they were the expanding the range to a gloss formula as well. I’ve been trying out the Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Gloss in Lilac Lumi (20)*, Tickled Pink (40)* and Fab & Fuchsia (55)*.
The packaging of the Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Gloss is a small tube with a doe foot applicator. The lids are colour-coordinated to the gloss, and have the same graphic font as the balms. The gloss has a sweet, fruity scent and no flavour. Applied to the lips, there’s a slightly thicker consistency that’s moisturizing and non-sticky.
The Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Gloss is available in 12 different shades and 3 different finishes. I have one in each finish: Lilac Lumi belongs to the Shimmers, Tickled Pink belongs to the Creams, and Fab & Fuchsia belongs to the Jellies. All the shades are pretty sheer, although they provide a very glossy finish and add a hint of colour or shimmer, depending on the shade.
Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Gloss in Lilac Lumi (20) is a sheer lilac with purple and blue shimmer. The addition of shimmer doesn’t impact the feeling of the gloss, it’s still very comfortable to wear. Lilac Lumi is the most obvious of the 3 shades I tried, because it does give a subtle tint to my lips, as well as a really pretty iridescence. I think this would add a really interesting element when applied on top of a lipstick, or it can easily be worn on its own.
Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Gloss in Tickled Pink (40) is a sheer, milky baby pink. As sheer as this shade is, I still felt like up close it settled a bit into lip lines and wasn’t quite as flattering as the other two options I tried.
Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Gloss in Fab & Fuchsia (55) is a sheer, bright pink. As vibrant as it looks in the tube, this shade is really is very, very sheer. I’ve actually gotten the most use out of this one because it’s easy to keep in my purse and apply like I would a lip balm, but with extra shine.
If you’re looking for a comfortable new gloss in a sheer shade, the Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Gloss is worth checking out. These glosses are definitely aimed at a younger audience with the packaging, but the product inside is really comfortable to wear. The Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Gloss in Lilac Lumi is really pretty and definitely the most unique shade of the trio, and from what I’ve seen, of the entire range, so that would be my top pick!
