Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Just Peachy* is one of six shades in the new “Dr. Rescue” medicated line of Baby Lips from Maybelline. In addition to the hint of colour offered by many of the Baby Lips, these balms contain menthol and eucalyptus to soothe and hydrate your lips.
I’m not sure how Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Just Peachy compares to the original Baby Lips, because I haven’t tried those yet, but I find that this one is quite “slippery” on the lips. In combination with the cooling menthol effect, I think the shinny, slippery feeling is nice when your lips are quite dry. However, like many lip balms it means regular reapplication is necessary.
Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Just Peachy is a light, peachy shade that I gave me a decent amount of coverage that was easy to apply (and reapply). Personally, this isn’t the best colour for my own lips, as I find it washes me out too much, but there are a variety of shades available. Berry Soft and Soothing Sorbet both look really pretty.
My main issue with Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Just Peachy was that I really found it clung to dry patches on my lips, which is a problem considering I’m using it because my lips are dry. I think some of the less pigmented shades wouldn’t have this issue, but I really wish I’d used a lip scrub before taking these photos (sorry!)
In terms of the impact that Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Just Peachy had, I would say that it feels nice, and depending on the shade and state of your lips it can look really nice as well, I’m not 100% sure how much of a difference it actually makes it helping your lips get better. There’s also a scent because of the menthol/eucalyptus, as well as the cooling sensation, so that’s something to keep in mind if you’re particularly sensitive to those things.
Overall, while I would be careful of applying it over lips that are flaking, Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Just Peachy is a great option if you’re looking for a pigmented balm that’s going to give your dry lips some immediate relief. Although this product isn’t perfect for me, I am definitely interested in testing out the normal line of Baby Lips to see how they compare, especially now that I have seen the great pigmentation and easy application they have– and I have heard some of the normal shades have SPF as well!
Have you tried any of the Baby Lips before? What do you use to heal your chapped lips in the winter time? Mine are in such rough shape these days!
