Can I just say there’s something pretty magical about fresh flowers when it comes to blog photography? I had a lovely bouquet sent to me a few weeks back and I had so much fun combining it with the equally lovely Mary Kay Summer 2016 Collection to share with you today.
I usually save the best for last but this time I’m just too excited to talk about the Mary Kay Undereye Corrector and Perfecting Concealers. Both come in a tube with a doefoot applicator, and while the Corrector is available in one peachy shade, there are 6 shades of the Concealer. I swatched the lightest two, Light Ivory and Deep Ivory, which are the ones that work for me.
In terms of the both the Corrector and Concealers, they have a creamy, crease-free, blendable formula that stays put. This is my first time using an Undereye Corrector and I really found that it minimized darkness. The Perfecting Concealers? They are perfect! These work both under the eyes as well as to hide blemishes. I am super impressed by the formula because it’s longwearing and doesn’t settle into fine lines. LOVE.
I’m usually pretty excited about Mary Kay eye shadows since they tend to be creamy and pigmented, but I was even more excited when I saw the gorgeous compact that was available for them this summer. The Mary Kay Natural Essentials Set includes the Limited Edition Mary Kay Rose Gold Compact Mini as well as the Mineral Eye Colour Bundle. The compact itself is lovely, and while purchasing it with the shadows doesn’t save any money, it does make for a stunning, travel-friendly little package.
In terms of the shadows, these are pigmented but they are very powdery. As a result, I highly recommend tapping your brush off prior to applying, as well as a primer to keep them from blending out too much. The shades themselves are really pretty but there are a few too many cream-tones for me. I do love that that shimmery Rosegold!
The Mary Kay Beauty That Counts Hearts Together Lipstick is a cool-toned sheer pink with a great cause behind it. $1 will be donated from the sale of each one to charity! This has a sort of balm-lipstick texture to it that’s really comfortable to wear, although I found it looked a tiny bit frosty on the lips from the shimmer.
The final product I tested out from the Mary Kay Summer 2016 Collection was the Mary Kay Lash Intensity Mascara, which is a permanent addition to the range. This mascara has a double impact brush with short, natural bristles that pick up loads of product and really coat the lashes. I’m really impressed by the impact that this mascara makes, but it can be a bit wet and clumpy due to all the volume. However it’s probably the closest I’ve ever felt to having a false lash effect from a mascara, and it’s definitely one I’ll reach for when I want a more dramatic eye look.
I the above look I’m wearing all products from the Mary Kay Summer 2016 Collection and I love the fresh-faced, natural result. Even looking at this photo now I can’t help noticing that a) I should have blended the foundation on my nose better and b) the corrector + concealer combo has really brightened up my under eye, so combined with the eye-opening effect of the mascara I really love the final look!
Overall, I think the Mary Kay Summer 2016 Collection is absolutely lovely, but if you only pick up one thing (or two…) you definitely need to grab those amazing Mary Kay Undereye Corrector and Perfecting Concealer!
Have you tried out the Mary Kay Summer 2016 Collection? What do you think of it?
