I’ve really loved the eyeshadows I’ve tried from Mary Kay (see reviews here and here), but with holiday posting in December, I didn’t manage to blog about two new, limited edition quads I’d received. The Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color Quads in Autumn Leaves and Sandstone each contain four gorgeous, pigmented, buttery shades.
Like all of the Mary Kay powder products I’ve tried so far, the Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color Quads in Autumn Leaves and Sandstone come in pan form, and they fit into compacts sold separately, or you can put them into one you already own. Although I’d prefer packaging–but it’d still be great if they were removable–the great thing about these quads are how small they are, making them very easy to store.
Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color Quads in Autumn Leaves is definitely the more colourful of the two, and personally, I would need shades outside of this quad to do a full eye look. That said, the colours are really gorgeous, and the pigmentation on all four is fantastic. I especially love the shimmery mossy green!
Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color Quads in Sandstone is a flawless neutral quad, with the three shimmery shades having the best formula. I like that the shadows vary in size within the quad, because I will definitely use more of the larger shades. I recently wore these shadows and absolutely loved the look, they may be powder by they are so creamy and easy to apply they basically glide onto the lid.
I will say that I found while wearing Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color Quads in Sandstone that, as gorgeous as it looked when I initially applied it, it did fade throughout the day. The shadows don’t need primer for pigmentation or application, but it might still be useful for longevity depending on the shadow (the lightest shade in the palette had no issues for me at all).
Overall, I think the Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color Quads in Autumn Leaves and Sandstone are two more gorgeous options from a brand that really knows how to do stunning eyeshadows. I think Sandstone is a perfect neutral palette that is really convenient for travel because of how tiny it is, while Autumns Leaves is a great way to add some vibrant jewel tones to your collection. Both quads are limited edition until February 15th, so if you want to pick one up, it’s definitely time to act soon!
Have you ever tried Mary Kay eyeshadows before? What do you think of these quads?
