It’s so close to September now I can hardly even complain about super early Fall Collections, so it was no surprise to see the recently launched Fall 2015 lineup from Mary Kay. The Mary Kay Fall 2015 City Modern Collection includes three lipstick, two palettes and three nail polishes. There’s more on the way, but today I’m starting off by swatching the Mary Kay Fall 2015 City Modern Nail Polish*!
I don’t think any other shade says Fall to me quite like a berry, so it was great to see this gorgeous, vivid dark plum in the collection. I’ve swatched Mary Kay City Modern Berry Stylish with just one coat, and yes, it’s fully opaque (although even when that’s the case I tend to wear two with polishes). Still, don’t forget to protect yourself and apply a base coat because I did have a little staining with this one. Don’t worry, I love it anyway.
With a collection named after cities, there had be at least one concrete shade and that’s Mary Kay City Modern Gallery Gray. If you ignore the slight cuticle staining from Berry Stylish, what you have is a great formula, opaque and even with two coats, slightly brown grey.
The final shade is available is Mary Kay City Modern Polished Pearls, a slightly frosty, pearly champagne. It is opaque with two coats, which is quite good for shades like this, but you can still see brushstrokes so that will annoy me forever.
Overall, I think these are three strong nail polishes from the Mary Kay City Modern Collection that match the collection perfectly and would all be great for fall. Still, if you’re only grabbing one my vote is definitely for Berry Stylish, a gorgeous plum that’s only one coat. What’s your favourite?
