In combination with the Mary Kay City Modern Makeup Collection which I shared polishes from, the brand has a lovely new set of body care for the upcoming season. The Mary Kay Cityscape Collection Fall 2015* includes options for men and women, both in the bath and after.
The Mary Kay Cityscape Collection For Her consists of a Silkening Shower Gel, Silkening Dry Oil Mist and Eau de Parfum, all in the same scent. I actually really like the scent although it is not traditionally “Fall”.
The top notes are a soft and sweet bergamont, pink pepper, red currant, apricot, violet leaves, layered on top of a white floral mix that includes phantomia orchid, orange flower absolute, peony and Florentine orris. The base of the scent is a slight musky vanilla, which is includes sandalwood, damson plum, vanilla bean, angelica and amber. This is definitely a daytime appropriate scent, but with a warm edge to it.
The Mary Kay Cityscape Silkening Shower Gel is a very thick shower gel that lathers well and has a less musky version of the scent. It is great for the fall because it is not at all drying on my skin. To smell good all day and lock in the moisture, you can follow up with the Mary Kay Cityscape Silkening Dry Oil Mist. Although it’s a surprising product for fall instead of summer, I’m actually a big fan of this dry oil because it sprays nicely, has a light scent, and leaves my skin feeling soft but not at all greasy–it’s a great product for people who don’t like the feeling of lotion. The final step in this trio is of course the Mary Kay Cityscape Eau de Parfum, with simple, chic packaging and a lovely long-lasting scent I already spent a paragraph describing!
To compliment the women’s side of the collection, there’s a Mary Kay Cityscape Collection For Him, which is heavier on the woodsy and bergamot notes to make it more masculine. That said, I definitely think this scent is wearable by females without it seeming like you stole your boyfriend’s cologne, especially if you like something a bit more musky for fall. The top notes are Italian bergamot, French lavender, pepper layered on top of Geranium, orange flower and whiskey barrel, resting on a base of Cedarwood, sandalwood, patchouli, vetiver, amber, and Mediterranean rockrose.
There are two products in the Mary Kay Cityscape Collection For Him, a Hair and Body Wash as well as a Cologne Spray, which have the same packaging as the “Her” versions except in black instead of white. What a cute pair they make, side by side!
The Mary Kay Cityscape Hair and Body Wash is a great thick lather in that wonderful scent. I didn’t try it on my hair because duo products like this are always too drying for my scalp, but it did leave my skin feeling clean and fresh.
I love the idea of matching the scent of my in-shower routine with my post-shower routine, and especially for somebody like my boyfriend that takes 2 minutes to get ready I think pairing up the Mary Kay Cityscape Cologne Spray is a great option. As I said, this is a woodsy but slightly sweet scent that’s not at all overpowering. The fragrance bottles in this collection definitely have an architectural design to them that matches perfectly with the inspiration.
All the products in the Mary Kay Cityscape Collection Fall 2015 are limited edition and available now, so if they’ve caught your attention it’s time to reach out to a Mary Kay consultant. I know that half are targeted at men, but I really enjoyed all 5 products. Still, I think the standouts were the Mary Kay Cityscape Eau de Parfum and Silkening Dry Oil Mist.
What kind of scents do you reach for in the Fall? I haven’t done a fragrance guide in quite awhile so maybe it is time for one of those soon!
