Until recently, I had never tried a Make Up For Ever foundation, but I had heard amazing things about them. My twin sister only buys their powder foundation, and the HD foundation was cult favourite. There were a lot of anxious makeup lovers when a new line launched. I had the chance to try out the new Make Up For Ever UltraHD Invisible Cover* and Stick Foundation* in Y225 and see just how camera-ready it made me.
I don’t live near a Sephora, so I wasn’t able to swatch the shades in person, but with the help of online swatches and my foundation twin Jenn, I picked Y225. While the Make Up For Ever UltraHD Invisible Cover Foundation range is available in 40 shades, the Stick Foundation is available in 15. Both options come in Y225, but it is the lightest shade in the Stick format. In terms of shade match for my NC15-20 skin, Y225 is perfect, although the shade is a little different depending on the formula.
The Make Up For Ever UltraHD Invisible Cover Foundation comes in a pump bottle and has a fairly runny consistency. You can get light to medium coverage, depending on how you apply it and how much you build it up. This is my favourite kind of coverage, because you can still see my freckles, but it does a great job evening out my skin tone. It looks nice in person, but I was really impressed with how great my skin looked on camera–I feel airbrushed!
In comparison, the Make Up For Ever UltraHD Invisible Cover Stick Foundation in Y225 has a much thicker consistency and gives higher coverage that really does hide my redness. I find it a lot harder to blend in and get a natural finish, but there’s definitely a convenience to the format–it’s not going to leak in your bag! It also feel thicker on the skin, but on camera, it also looks flawless.
While I love the way both the Make Up For Ever UltraHD Invisible Cover and Stick Foundation look on camera, I find that neither them last the whole day on my more oily areas. I find that it sort of breaks apart throughout the day, especially on my nose, so I would pair it with a good primer or setting powder.
While the Make Up For Ever UltraHD Invisible Cover and Stick Foundation in Y225 isn’t the most long-lasting formula I’ve tried, especially on oily skin, I think that the results it gives are definitely worth a little extra effort. My personal preference is for the liquid, but I was still impressed with the convenience and results of the cream.
My skin looks absolutely flawless when using the Make Up For Ever UltraHD Invisible Cover and Stick Foundation, and if I ever have a special event where I want to look good for a few hours and know there will be photos, I know this is exactly what I will be reaching for! It’s also become an easy favourite for when I know I’ll be photographing makeup looks for the blog, because just look at those “after” shots…
