There’s a brand new range of lip gloss with 35 shades ranging from sheer to opaque, and I have two of them to share. If you’re looking for an easy-to-wear lip colour, keep reading for my thoughts on the Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi-Gloss 100P Pearly Light Beige* and 306 Orange*.
Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi-Gloss comes with a unique “Superflex” applicator, that has a gap on one side so that it fills with gloss and all it takes is one ‘dip’ for a full application. There’s also a rounded tip to get a precise line, and although the two shades I tried aren’t the most intense ones available, I found it was quite easy to apply and quite accurate. I do love how flexible and bendy the applicator is, as it really hugs my lips as I apply.
Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi-Gloss 100P Pearly Light Beige is a sheer, slightly milky nude with golden shimmer. It’s a subtle shade that is great to wear every day but can also be paired with a smoky eye, or on top of lipstick either tone it down or add shine (or both!)
In comparison to the Urban Decay Revolution High-Color Lipglosses, which I found got tackier over time, the Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi-Gloss applies a little tacky but does melt into my lips over time, although I still notice it a bit. Even though there’s shimmer, I felt absolutely no texture from the Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi-Gloss 100P Pearly Light Beige the way that I sometimes do when glitter makes my lips itchy.
Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi-Gloss 306 Orange is a semi-opaque bright orange gloss with no shimmer but lots of shine. You can actually build this up to be even more opaque, but I went with one layer because a strictly orange lip shade is already out of my comfort zone.
There’s definitely a thicker consistency to the Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi-Gloss, which probably helps with the lasting power as well as the shine. It also means I basically have to ‘spread’ the gloss on my lips. I get a few hours wear out the shades, it is a gloss after all, but I don’t mind re-applying with such a nice applicator. Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi-Gloss 306 Orange is a great summery shade, especially if you’re like me and still a bit nervous about orange lips.
I admit I haven’t been totally won over to glosses yet, but it seems to be an incredibly popular product for spring and summer and I love the shine they offer. There’s a large range of shades in the Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi-Gloss line, including a few more unusual ones, but if you are looking for a nice nude or orange gloss with lots of shine and a great applicator, 100P Pearly Light Beige and 306 Orange are both worth considering.
