As somebody whose life has been super chaotic lately, I’ve become even more appreciative of a great base and a great finish when it comes to my makeup routine. Fortunately, that’s exactly the MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Skin Booster & Microfinishing Pressed Powder in Banana can provide.

The extension to the MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD range includes the Ultra HD Skin Booster as well as Ultra HD Lip Booster, both meant to hydrate and smooth skin for a healthy glow.

The MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Skin Booster is a face serum meant to plump and prep the skin for makeup, hydrating and smoothing out the appearance of fine lines. It comes in a little dropper bottle, and there’s actually only 12 mL in it. I’m really disappointed there’s not more in the container, because it is a great product. I’ve had really dry skin over the winter and that’s dragged on into Spring and Summer, so this is a great first step to my morning routine.

Applying the MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Skin Booster before my foundation helps with dry patches and also helps the makeup last longer. I really like the result the MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Skin Booster has on both dry patches and fine lines, I just wish there was more in the container.

Recent extensions to the MUFE Ultra HD range also include a Microfinishing Loose Powder as well as Microfinishing Pressed Powders in three different shades. I picked out the MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Microfinishing Pressed Powder in Banana, because I was so intrigued by all these suggestions of a yellow-based powder for finishing under the eyes, but it’s actually intended for medium to tan skin tones and I probably should have just gone with Translucent, although the yellow is very very subtle.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Microfinishing Pressed Powder in Banana comes in a compact with a mirror on the lid and it’s incredibly finely milled. It does cause a lot of extra powder when you put your brush in it, but the result is that you end up with a matte finish that’s perfect for oily skin. If you have dry patches I find it may not be the best–which is why I prefer to use this on my T-zone rather than under the eyes like I originally intended. That said, I think this is a good choice for oily skin and I love the fine texture.

If the first and the last thing you put on your face in the morning don’t work, it really doesn’t matter what you apply in between. It’s great to see brands like MAKE UP FOR EVER making sure there are fantastic base and finishing products out there, but while I loved the Ultra HD Skin Booster I wish there was more in the bottle. The MAKE UP FOR EVER Microfinishing Pressed Powders are a great pick for oily skin, and I do appreciate that they have more than one shade in the range.

Have you tried either of these products from MAKE UP FOR EVER? What did you think?
