It takes a lot for me to want to review a lip liner, because it’s just a part of the makeup arsenal I don’t reach for often. But when one of your very favourite brands, a brand you know you can always trust for good quality, professional-level products, launches a new lip liner? Yes, that I am going to try. So that’s how I came to test out the new MAKE UP FOR EVER High Precision Lip Pencil in N10 and N12.
I really do prefer lazy makeup I don’t have to sharpen, so at first I was a little concerned that the MAKE UP FOR EVER High Precision Lip Pencil is a traditional pencil. However, it does let you get a very precise point, which is what it promises. It has a creamy formula so I don’t think you’d keep the point long in a twist-up packaging. Plus, you always get way more product when you have an actual pencil instead.
There are 12 shades available in the MAKE UP FOR EVER High Precision Lip Pencil, but of course I was interested in some of the most neutral ones, N10 and N12, which both fall into the Nude Family (#10 to #14). There is also a Pink Family (#20 to #23) and a Red Family (#40 to #42). N10 is a warm peachy beige, while N12 is a dark rosewood.
I’ve applied the MAKE UP FOR EVER High Precision Lip Pencil in N10 and N12 all over the lips in the above swatches, but of course with a liner you can also just use them on the edges, or extend the liner past your natural lip line slightly for a fuller look.
The most surprising part about these pencils is the fact that they actually feel pretty comfortable on the lips, which is thanks to olive oil and glycerin complex. They have a creamy formula that is easy to apply (in comparison to something like MAC liners), but somehow still manages not to budge. I don’t wear lip liner on its own since I do find it makes my lips look a little wrinkly, but whether you top these with your favourite lipstick or a gloss, they make a great base.
Honestly, I’m still too lazy to make lip liner a part of my daily makeup routine, but if you do reach for it often you definitely need to try out the new MAKE UP FOR EVER High Precision Lip Pencil. If you’re a more infrequent wearer, these might just make you fall in love for the first time!
