The MAKE UP FOR EVER Give In To Me Makeup Kit comes in a keepsake box, that you can remove the insert holing the makeup and later use it to store whatever you would like. It has a large mirror on the lid, and a fake lock with a “hidden” compartment on the side. There are also matching quotes on the outside of the box, although I wish there wasn’t… Of course, the real beauty is what comes inside the MAKE UP FOR EVER Give In To Me Makeup Kit. There’s a quad of the gorgeous new Artist Shadows in the shades I-514, ME-612, S-556 and I-625, as well as a full size Graphic eyeliner, Lab Shine lip gloss in D14 and Rouge Artist Natural lipstick in N4. To complete the set, there’s a travel-sized Smoky Extravagant mascara.
Not only does the MAKE UP FOR EVER Give In To Me Makeup Kit contain almost everything you need to do a full face of makeup, but there are also instructions to help you manage. The instructions are for three looks by Victoria Down, who actually was Head of Makeup for the film, and The Natural Look, The Sultry Look, and The Empowered Look which apparently follow the female lead’s transformation in the book. Although I ended up creating my own look instead, I was definitely inspired by the booklet and think the face charts are really helpful if you aren’t sure where to start with the kit.
I figured I would start with the bad news. The MAKE UP FOR EVER Graphic Liner is actually the only product in the MAKE UP FOR EVER Give In To Me Makeup Kit I wasn’t a big fan of. First, I don’t feel like the lid really snaps on, so although I haven’t owned it long enough to tell, I am nervous about it drying out which is always a big concern with felt-tipped liners. I also found it a little too flexible for me, but I am quite an eyeliner amateur. I’d also pretty something a little more matte since the shadow ends up sticking to the liner a bit, although I find the liner itself to be very long-lasting.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Give In To Me Makeup Kit also includes the MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Extravagant Mascara in Travel Size, and although I received ones of these in my Sephora birthday kit, I hadn’t tried it yet. You can see how dramatic the effect is in my makeup look below, but basically, I love this mascara. I actually generally prefer synthetic mascara brushes, but this fluffy one does a fantastic job. It looks gorgeous and doesn’t clump, although it does flake a TINY bit, it wasn’t enough to annoy me.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Give In To Me Makeup Kit includes two lip products. First is the MAKE UP FOR EVER Rouge Artist Natural in N4. I previously reviewed this in the shade N29 but that was quite glittery. In comparison, this “pink beige” is definitely an everyday, neutral, wearable shade that I adore. It’s also very creamy and comfortable on the lips. To go with it, there’s a MAKE UP FOR EVER Lab Shine Diamond Collection in D14. It has a nice scent and unusual brush applicator, and it’s shimmery but not sticky on the lips. It also looks really pretty layered over the lipstick.
Of course, the reason I was silly excited about the MAKE UP FOR EVER Give In To Me Makeup Kit was the eyeshadow quad. The MAKE UP FOREVER Artist Shadow Quad includes the shades I-514 (pink ivory iridescent), ME-612 (silver brown metallic), S-556 (taupe grey satin) and I-628 (reptile iridescent). I’ve reviewed the shades D640 and M660 in this formula, and loved them, so I was thrilled to test out four more. I’m especially obsessed with ME-612. Just look at it! Application, wear, everything about the shadows was fantastic.
I used all the products in the MAKE UP FOR EVER Give In To Me Makeup Kit except for the I-628 shadow to create the look below. I started off inspired by the “Natural Look” tutorial but had to add a little more drama to it. Look at those lashes!
Although the MAKE UP FOR EVER Give In To Me Makeup Kit includes a tutorial for three different looks, there are plenty more options to create using it. I have continued to reach for products in this set, and the palette is a great one to take traveling.
Ultimately, the MAKE UP FOR EVER Give In To Me Makeup Kit is a kit with an extremely good value, where you basically pay for the eyeshadows and get everything else for free. It’s also a great mix of products that would be a great gift for either a makeup beginner, or somebody who just loves neutral shades and fantastic formulas. You know you want to give in to it…
