I was really impressed by the pigmentation and incredible lasting power of the MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Matic Eyeshadow Pencil* so when I had the opportunity to try out the new MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Liner D12 Diamond Black* I definitely had high expectations for the product.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Liner D12 Diamond Black is a twist up eye liner available in 15 shades and 5 different finishes. Currently, Black is the only Diamond, or glittery shade, so it’s especially fun that I got to try it out.
Growing up one of my favourite make up products was a black and silver glitter eyeliner from Toni & Guy that my aunt bought me at Macy’s in New York City. I may still have a nub of it somewhere. So teenage Zoë was very excited to receive MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Liner D12 Diamond Black, even though I’d probably have gotten more use out of purple or brown. I did add it to a recent sunrise inspired look I did using the Sephora The Beauty of Giving Back Face Palette*.
Although the MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Liner D12 Diamond Black does have glitter in it, it’s not very much, and when it’s applied to the eye in a thin line I don’t find it to be very noticeable. It does add a hint of something special though. The pigmentation is perfect, and it’s creamy and easy to apply. Even using it on my lower lash line, it lasted all day without any smudging at all!
My only wish for the MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Liner D12 Diamond Black is that it either self-sharpened, or had a sharpener tucked in the bottom of the pencil like the MUFE Aqua Matic Pencils do, because it does lose its point quite easily given how creamy it is. Overall, it’s a flawless liner and although I often pass on black liners after reviewing them (I have so many!) the MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Liner D12 Diamond Black is one I’ll definitely be keeping in my collection!
