Even though I recently admitted that MAC See Sheer Lipstick was actually my first MAC Lipstick, and even though I purchased MAC Plumful at the same time as this one, MAC Syrup Lipstick really feels like my first MAC Lipstick. I know one thing for sure–it’s definitely my most loved shade. Every time somebody asks for a MAC Lipstick recommendation, I immediately say Syrup. After this post, you won’t blame me.
MAC Syrup Lipstick is a sheer, My Lips But Better, pink mauve with a lustre finish. Lustre lipsticks (like Plumful, See Sheer and Capricious) have a more balm-like consistency that makes them really comfortable to wear, but also shinier and less opaque. I also find that they wear away quicker, so I need to re-apply after about 1-2 hours.
MAC Syrup Lipstick applies smoothly with a nice glossy sheen to it. My winter lips aren’t in the best shape, but this shade not only hides that, it actually makes them look fuller than they are. Definitely MLBB.
Although how MAC Syrup Lipstick looks will differ depending on your underlying lip colour, on me it’s a pinker, lighter, toned down version of Plumful. This is such an easy, every day shade that looks good with any makeup (or no makeup) and can be reapplied without a mirror. I know this isn’t the most unique shade from MAC, but it’s really flattering on me, and has also looked great on everyone else I’ve seen apply it. There might be a dupe out there, but that doesn’t stop me from loving this formula and shade!
Even though MAC Syrup Lipstick is my favourite, I still have one more shade I’ll need to review when I get back from vacation–my latest MAC lipstick purchase, Twig. I also have a few more lipsticks on my wishlist (always), in particular, MAC Velvet Teddy. So enable me and let me know, what is your most-loved MAC Lipstick?
And if you haven’t tried MAC Syrup Lipstick you should go to MAC, try it on, immediately purchase it, and then let me know what your favourite MAC Lipstick was prior to making that purchase!
