It’s pretty obvious by now that I’m VERY safe with my lip colour choices, but I have a little story to share. Even though it seems like MAC Syrup Lipstick should have been my first MAC Lipstick, and even though it was the first one (along with Plumful) that I purchased in store, it was not the first one I tried. The first MAC lipstick to come into my possession was actually the MAC See Sheer Lipstick, which I bought for about $5 in a beauty swap group. Don’t worry, I sanitized it when I took it home. And yes, this shade qualifies as adventurous for me.
MAC See Sheer Lipstick is a creamy, shimmer-free, semi-opaque coral lipstick. What MAC See Sheer Lipstick has in common with Syrup, Plumful, and Capricious Lipsticks is that it is also a lustre finish. This finish is sheerer, shiny, and comfortable to wear. Like all MAC lipsticks, it has a vanilla scent but no flavour.
MAC See Sheer Lipstick applies evenly to the lips and is actually a more pigmented shade for a lustre. However, it still lets enough of my natural lip colour come through enough that I feel like See Sheer is a great, safe way to try out coral. Even though it swatches orange-coral, it ends up pulling pink-coral on my lips. I find lustres moisturizing to wear, but similar to other shades this lasts about 2 hours on me.
Personally, I think MAC See Sheer Lipstick is a very flattering coral that I think would look great a huge range of skintones. Seeing the photo of me wearing it now…I honestly wish I had reached for it more over the past 2 summers. You can definitely tell my tube does not have much wear!
One of my 2016 goals is to try to blog more of my personal makeup collection, and you may be able to tell I’ve started with MAC lipsticks. I’m glad I did because pulling out MAC See Sheer Lipstick again reminded me what a lovely coral shade this is and since I’ll be in Arizona and California this week, I’ll definitely be taking it with me!
Have you heard of MAC See Sheer Lipstick? What do you think of it? I feel like this is a very under-rated shade!
