I only own a couple MAC brushes, but I’ll be honest, they are among my most treasured makeup processions. I have enjoyed, and in some cases even loved, brushes from other brands, but those MAC brushes? Magical. Purchasing them was the first time I realized that the brush could really make a difference in how your makeup looks when you apply it. So yeah, I was pretty thrilled when the MAC 188 Small Duo Fibre Face Brush and MAC 224 Tapered Blending Brush showed up for me to review.
The MAC 188 Small Duo Fibre Face Brush is a flat-topped, full circular brush made from a blend of goat and synthetic fibers. This brush is very soft and perfect for any product, cream, liquid or powder, that you want to apply a sheer layer of. I like using this brush for highly pigmented blushes, or even highlighters where I just want a more subtle dusting. Duo Fibre brushes don’t pick up a ton of product, so they are really perfect for an scenario where you want to build up. I have had no issues with shedding and I really do love this brush!
The MAC 224 Tapered Blending Brush is a made with natural fibers and has a slightly rounded top. It’s a very soft brush, and it’s fluffy while still holding its shape well. One of the much-beloved MAC brushes I already own is actually a blending brush (217) but the 224 is much larger. If you are trying to blend in smaller areas like your crease than you may prefer the 217, although this definitely still works and it’s great for blending out the whole lid. This brush is also good for applying highlighter to your face. Basically, perfect for all your blending needs.
I don’t know if all MAC Brushes are magical but so far the ones I’ve tried certainly have been. After testing out the MAC 188 Small Duo Fibre Face Brush and MAC 224 Tapered Blending Brush they will be welcome additions to my collection and if you are looking for a small duo fibre or a large blending brush I highly recommend checking out MAC. Or, you know, any other brush. I bet they have it!
