A quick browse of my blog will easily reveal that I am a “lushie” or diehard Lush fan, but while I make use of their bath and body products on a near-daily basis, I am still relatively inexperienced when it comes to the brands haircare. That’s why I was super excited when I was a new haircare routine to test out, including the Lush New Shampoo Bar, Lush Veganese Hair Conditioner and Lush R & B Hair Moisturizer.
I first featured the Lush New Shampoo Bar in my 2014 Father’s Day Gift Guide, because it contains stimulating clove and cinnamon oils as well as a peppermint infusion to help with hair growth. Since then, the brand has added a #BeCrueltyFree message (all Lush products are). The shampoo bar has a spicy scent and also includes ingredients like rosemary and nettles for irritated scalps and soft shiny hair. I was actually surprised how well this bar lathered, and how refreshed it left my scalp feeling, while still resulting in soft hair, especially when used with the other two products. The shampoo bar format is also really convenient for my gym bag since it’s small and I don’t have to worry leaks.
While all of Lush is cruelty-free, they also have plenty of vegan items that don’t use any animal by-products in them, such as the Lush Veganese Hair Conditioner. This is a very lightweight conditioner, so it’s perfect if you have thin hair and want to condition it without weighing it down. There’s still plenty of softening ingredients like seaweed, plus lemon oil and juice for an extra shine. While I prefer Lush Retread Conditioner (reviewed here) for my super dry, curly hair, the New Shampoo Bar plus Veganese Conditioner combo is really great on days my hair could use some real cleansing, without leaving it dry or brittle. The conditioner also contains rosemary and lavender for a healthy scalp and herbal scent.
If the shampoo and conditioner combo don’t give quite enough moisture to your dry hair and scalp, you can always finish up with the Lush R & B Hair Moisturizer. Not only is the scent–a mix of jasmine and orange flower–amazing and a great way to leave your hair smelling, but the product itself is perfect for frizzy hair like mine. It contains avocado butter, olive, jojoba and coconut oils as well as candelilla wax to soften and smooth. I only need a small amount and I have really long hair, so I know this tub will last me forever. I really love the way it leaves my hair feeling, and like the New Shampoo Bar, it is compact and leak-free for the gym. Seriously, my last hair product leaked in my gym bag, so this is important to me!
Overall, I’m really glad I had a chance to experiment with more Lush Haircare because I really loved everything. If you have fine or thinning hair, you’ll especially want to test out the New Shampoo Bar and Veganese Conditioner, and if your hair is frizzy, make sure to add in the R & B Hair Moisturizer as well.
Have you tried out any Lush haircare in the past? Let me know your favourites. I used to also love the Lush Okra Conditioner but sadly it was discontinued, but they still have plenty of hair treatments I’d love to try especially the Jasmine and Henna Fluff-Eaze.
