Before the holidays I was lucky enough to receive a surprise box of L’Oreal Fall 2015 launches, including the L’Oreal Voluminous Superstar Mascara (reviewed here) and L’Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation in N3.5 (reviewed here). Today’s post features the exciting new lip products, the L’Oreal La Lacque and Le Matte Full Coverage Lip Colours*.
The L’Oreal La Lacque and Le Matte Full Coverage Lip Colours come in a skinny lip crayon format that twists up and makes them easy to apply precisely. While all the shades are pretty opaque, the La Lacque formula has a shiny finish while the Le Matte is a velvety matte. There are 4 shades of each formula, and I have half of them to share with you: L’Oreal La Lacque Lacque-y Charm, L’Oreal La Lacque Lacque-y You, L’Oreal Le Matte Mad For Matte and L’Oreal Le Matte Matte For You.
L’Oreal La Lacque Lacque-y Charm is a gorgeous rosy brown, the sort of My Lips But Better shade I wear daily. It’s surprisingly pigmented when applied to the lips and gives a smooth, even finish with a nice sheen to it.
The La Lacque formula is a little bit tacky but I still find them pretty comfortable to wear. It also means it doesn’t really move around on the lips and as a result the lasting power is fairly decent.
L’Oreal La Lacque Lacque-y You is a mauve berry which is a gorgeous shade that’s a bit more vibrant than Lacque-y Charm while still being easy to wear. I actually think this one is my favourite of the four!
I find both La Lacque shades very flattering to wear, and Lacque-y You in particular gives a bit of added fullness to my lips. The formula is lightly scented but there’s not flavour.
L’Oreal Le Matte Mad for Matte is a bright matte red with a slightly orange undertone. It has great pigmentation that applies very evenly.
The L’Oreal Le Matte formula is soft but a bit drying, however it is not budge-proof so I would remove it before eating. I definitely appreciate the skinny pencil which makes it much easier to apply than a lipstick, but I still think a lip liner would help extend the wear.
L’Oreal Le Matte Matte for Me is a bright, cool-toned pink. I found the application was a bit patchy and unlike Mad for Matte, I found that Matte for Me emphasized dry patches on my lips. Still, I was actually surprised that this shade looked (I think) pretty decent on me, it’s not a colour I would usually reach for.
The L’Oreal Le Matte finish is a slightly velvet matte, and it is not at all tacky like the La Lacque shades.
I’m always excited to see a new product in a crayon(esque) format and this is a great new offering from L’Oreal. If you are looking for a new matte with great pigmentation and easy-to-apply packaging definitely look into the Le Matte lineup. However, despite the slight texture issue, what I’m really loving are both L’Oreal La Lacque shades I’ve tried. I took them traveling and I’ve already gotten a ton of wear out of them. Will you be picking up any of these?
