I honestly think that L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadows are some of the most amazing products at the drugstore. I own a few shades, including Amber Rush which is definitely in my top five favourite eyeshadows ever, so I was very happy to add the L’Oreal Infallible in Purple Obsession*, Coconut Shake* and Glistening Garnet* to my collection.
L’Oreal Infallible in Purple Obsession is apparently also known as Perpetual Purple in the US and it’s a dark purple with an iridescent finish. It is very creamy, but as you blend it, I find that the grey-brown undertones to the shadow come out more, which could be good or bad depending on how much you want an intense purple payoff. Personally, this is definitely not my favourite shade from the range and I do love these shadows. I think this is a great alternative for an evening smokey look when you don’t want to go with brown or black, it just doesn’t look quite the same as it does in the pan.
L’Oreal Infallible in Coconut Shake was my first time trying a matte from a line composed mainly of shimmers, and it’s a pale cream shade. I found it less pigmented and more powdery than the shimmery shades, and on my skintone it was extremely subtle. It works well for blending or if you want a matte highlight on the brow bone. There’s actually a similar, shimmery shade called Iced Latte that I’ve been lusting after for awhile and I think I would get more use out of than Coconut Shake.
The final shade I tried is much more what I am used to with these shadows, and that’s L’Oreal Infallible in Glistening Garnet. It’s a berry pink and it applies evenly and with a gorgeous shimmery finish, lasting all day on my lids. Applied dry (you can use these shadows wet but I don’t, although I have seen this one swatched that way online and it looks amazing) it has a reddish tint to it that makes it more wearable as a pink eye shadow. The shadow is really pretty especially for fall looks.
I did an eye look using the L’Oreal Infallible in Purple Obsession, Coconut Shake and Glistening Garnet. I used Coconut Shake on the inner corner and brow bone, Glistening Garnet all over the lid, and Purple Obsession in the outer corner. I applied L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara* to my lashes.
Overall, I don’t think that the L’Oreal Infallible in Purple Obsession, Coconut Shake and Glistening Garnet are entirely consistent in how well they perform, but I continue to be a huge fan of these shadows. When L’Oreal nails the shade, it’s long-lasting, pigmented, complex and gorgeous, and that’s exactly the case of Glistening Garnet. Depending on what you are looking for in your collection, Purple Obsession and Coconut Shake may be good choices too.
Have you tried any of the L’Oreal Infallible shadows before? Which one is your favourite?
